The exhaust port is most likely clogged you would need to do a near complete tare down to clean it properly. Advise take it to a shop for this service.

reboot the system by pressing F8 if your using windows OS and select last good configuration.

you can try also selecting Enable VGA mode (press F8 while rebooting and select ENABLE VGA mode).

take off the battery and turn on computer then turn off , back the battery to its place again and turn your computer on , it will be reset

Hi,
you must adjust the display settings in the software program that was being used to change the display setting.

If you have a flat panel LCD monitor, unplug the monitor power cable, wait about 30 seconds, reconnect the cable and then turn on the monitor. This resets the electronics on the monitor.

Make sure the monitor has power - the light on the monitor is on. If the light on the monitor is off, the monitor does not have power. Connect it to a different power outlet.

If the monitor has a detachable video cable, obtain a second monitor cable for testing purposes in case the cable is bad.

It might be a connector cable between the mother board and the power supply has worked loose when the machine was moved. That blinking light appears to be on the power supply. While there might be other causes, I suspect the power supply needs to be replaced. You could take up considerable time and try to reseat everything and check all the connections and even put new thermal paste between the CPU and heatsink, but in the end, I suspect putting in a new (or used of the same type) power supply will be the fix. If the power supply has failed before damaging anything, that at least would be good news.

2006 PC (HP.coM) 16 years old.. ouch. XP (microsoft) is now a horrible virus magnet, and there is ZERO support now, are you using the last XP earth 2020??? gee google that. 2001 to 2007 was XP rein , vista 2007 I bet there are 1millons of web site still with XP usage .(old topics) google them. but Microsoft purged theirs. it is not sold at all, so how in the world can you get the installer on any pen drive, and XP installed from CD not pen.. worst of all XP installer, can not us 99% of all USB ports and then only half after the install (unless you force them via F6 and floppy drive with xp drivers on the floppy for THIS PC) to use any relic PCs run LINUX> not XP

I don't know if this is a sign of the times but ?????????? I'm sorry that you had to clean all of the blood out of the machine. You should replace all of the switches etc. You can buy used parts for these machines on Ebay really cheap now.

Open your browser and Click TOOLS/ INTERNET OPTIONS/ SECURITY/ TRUSTED SITES. Then if the box in the lower left corner is checked, UNCHECK IT. After that, type the web address you want to allow in the other box @ the top and click the ADD button. Click OK to close. Now you should have no problem. All M700 CPUs are SMT (Surface Mounted Technology) = soldered onboard. You have to replace the whole mobo if you wanna upgrade. Suggest you get the whole bottom piece from eBay - easiest way for upgrade! 

 

The mobo also has a VR sub-board which I was told is different between PII->PIII 500mhz, PIII 600mhz -> PIII 750mhz, and PIII 800mhz-> PIII 1Ghz. So better replace the entire lower piece - lowerfixer.
