Sounds like you're in fixed point mode with 0 decimal places. To return to floating point, press FIX then . (decimal point)
Set Tax rate on a Casio HR-100TM
Press the CA button twice. Then push and hold down the %/set key until the 0 dissappearsd and reappears. Then type in your tax rate and the percent key (eg: 8.25%) and then press the TAX+ key. It should save the new tax rate.

In the FX-300Ms manual, the same for the FX-82MS, there is no way to use base-n (binary, octal, hexadecimal) calculations.

Simplifying radicals on fx-115ES
If your calculator is SetUp for Math Input/Output (MATHIO), a result that gives a radical will remain in radical form. If a radical appears in a denominator the whole expression is rationalized: Any radical left is put in the numerator. 1/Sqr(3) is displayed as Sqr(3)/3.
