I have a kc50 carrier unit on the roof that the blower fan does not operate in heating or cooling. The contact relay has proper voltage but won't engage. Could this be caused by the economizer?

if the correct voltage is applied then I would check relay, may be bad. use insulated tool and push the contactor down and see if unit runs.

I have a carrier aircon, inverter. What is the meaning of code P9?

Hi Cherisse - This is a typical error code for a faulty thermister (also shows up as open contactor). On some Carrier units, it also refers to DC Fan protection... This does not sound like a user fixable item...please contact an HVAC repair shop.

I have a Carrier Infinity heat pump that is giving code 73 (contactor shorted). Is it possible that this code is being caused by a bad start capacitor?

Sure. Remove the start cap, temporarily if you choose to replace, and see if code clears. Unit should still run without the start cap.
