What is the meaning of

This means the scanning lamp (AKA the CIS unit) is bad and needs replaced. It would be advised to either take it into a shop or replace the All-in-one printer, but if you insist on doing this yourself:

Where a ir400 copier laser scanner fan no.5 is situated

1) The ir400 copier laser scanner has a number of fans that generate the signal. The fan number 5 is the curl reducing fan. 2) If any error occurs from that fan, then you will see the 004-error code. The error occurs when the fan wiring is faulty. 3) The fan can be faulty or even the DC controller PCB can also damage. There can be any foreign objects objecting the fan's rotation pathway. 4) If you find any object, then remove the object. Check if the wiring and the connector of the fan are normal. 5) Replace the fan if there is a problem with it. Also, replace the DC controller. Check if the fan FM5 is positioned correctly. 6) The Heat Exhaust Fan FM5 error can also occur. Check if the connector connection between the Heat Exhaust Fan and the DC controller is intact. HI... HOW TO FIX CANON ADV IR4235 E000840?

E840 is an error detection to the fixing inlet home position sensor. PS63 (Fixing Inlet sensor) and PS66 (Fixing Inlet HP sensor) may be caused by a poor connection on the front door switch. Try inspecting & re-seating the connection at the front door open/close switch= ++ make sure the front door is not vibrating away from the front door open/close switch (MSW7). The door Magnet Action Catch may not properly be holding the door closed. ++ if paper is stuck in unit 1 frame side connector you might get a E840. If no paper is found in the connector check the connector for damage or cracks. Frame side connector assembly (FM2-5091-000). https://www.instantprintersupport.com/canon-printer-support

When doing auto feed on

I just did what Dick Davis said. I also noticed that there was a long plastic strip on top of this little glass area to the left of the main glass area. It had little handles on the top and bottom that allowed the piece to pop on and off. I took this piece off and cleaned both it (it was clear plastic for the most part) and I also cleaned the glass strip that it was on. Then I tested a couple prints and Voila!, the printer is now printing without the line going down the page using the auto-feed.
