As for cleaning a watch the watch maker will take all the tiny mechanical pieces apart, put them in to a very fine screen basket, and submerge the pieces in to the cleaning solution inside of an ultra sonic cleaning machine. Once cleaned he will maliciously re-assemble all the pieces in back in to the casing structure and lubricate with the very fine 000 viscosity oil used for watches. Then he will perform all the necessary mechanical adjustments. Personally, if not properly trained and not having the proper tools and jigs I do not think you would be able do this type of work without ruining the watch...

Are you talking about the crown or the dial at any rate for the crown try Red rooster on the internet and the face there are many companies that will refinish the dial/face for a mere 30 or 40 USD

First it is a women's and they dont hold the value as well as a mans watch will. second it is a bulova and the resale on those over the years have not kept up the pace because there are so many out there and Bulova has always been a ok watch it has many contenders that are much better. So the worth lies in the weight of the gold. !8k is good but make sure it is real, from the photos the bracelet do not look like it is solid gold looks like it is 18k plated.

What is the question? This sounds like a manual watch the L9 stands for the date of production. You can look this up on the internet. Google Bulova code dates. L9 is around 1970's if not mistaken. It is also rolled gold plate one of the lower end watches. Most manuals are 17 jewels, the more the jewels the higher the price and worth.

I would expect the battery to last more like 3 years than three weeks. Did you replace the battery yourself? If so, are you sure that it's the correct one correctly fitted? Did you use a quality make of battery? I've known people to use metal tweezers to fit batteries - the risk of shorting the battery is very high with the result that battery life is seriously reduced. Look at it this way - the watch cost you over 300 bucks, so it's a decent quality watch. Take it to a professional to have a battery fitted - it's not worth the risk doing it yourself if you're not completely sure what you are doing, and if the battery they fit fails then you can just take it back to them to sort out. Having a battery fitted for you should not cost a lot of money - but if you have somehow damaged the watch by trying to do it yourself then it will have been a very expensive way to save a little money....
