Bulova Accutron - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support

It's an old accutron 214- manufactured 1967. Of course it depends on condition,but the 214 Accutron is very popular and even not working should bring around $50.00 if it is complete, no missing parts. It could possibly bring $75 or more.

Since the 1950s Bulova has used a 2 digit date code, usually on the back below the serial number. The letter is the decade (L= '50s, M='60s, N=70s, etc.) and the number is the year. For example, a Bulova with a date code of M3 was made in 1963, one with N0 was made in 1970, and so on. Prior to the 1950s, it's more complicated.

try replacing i mean put in a new battery in it..ORopen it if you can or take it to the nearby watch shop and tell them to clean it- sometimes dust sticks in and it hangs...this will definately sdolve the problem-waiting for top ratings from you

Bulova Accutron watches were originally designed to use Mercury batteries of 1.35 volts, since they were the only type manufactured then. The pic (left) shows an original 214 all-metal "top hat" cell, before 387 cells with the plastic spacer became available. In most areas of the world, mercury-based batteries are no longer available, due to environmental concerns related to the safe disposal of them. The Tuning Fork watches manufactured by Esa (e.g the f300 Omega) were designed to run on either mercury or silver oxide batteries without any adjustment, provided the last repairer to work on the watch set up the index mechanism according to factory specifications.
It is strongly recommended that you do not replace batteries yourself, as special tools are required to open the watch case without damaging it. The only exception to this is the Accutron 214 model, which has a small battery hatch on the back.

I would figure your Bulova Accutron is in the area of $125.00------- $200.00 range. Your best bet is to find a jeweler in your area or an appraiser, even online for the latest value of your watch.

You can not do anything. At the point of sale your watch is brand new, but the battery was fitted when it left the manufacturer. So, put the new battery in and you will be sorted.

Locate the battery: Check the back or bottom of the clock for the door. Open the compartment: Use a screwdriver or your fingers to open the compartment door. Remove the old battery: Remove the old battery and dispose of it properly

are there indents going around in a circle on the back of the watch? if so it is a screw off. You need a special tool available at a jeweler to unscrew back. If it does not have those indents, then look very carefully around the outside edge for the lifting spot, use a pocketknife (carefully!) to lift!

1. Take the watch off your wrist and turn the watch so that the back of the watch is facing up. 2. Use a watch case opener or a small flathead screwdriver to remove the back of the watch. 3. Carefully take out the old battery and discard it properly. 4. Insert the new battery, making sure the plus and minus signs line up with the corresponding symbols in the watch. 5. Securely close the back of the watch. 6. Put the watch back on your wrist and you're done.
