If you are using the "tachless" start option and the unit will not crank long enough to start the vehicle, you might want to opt for using the tach wire set up. When selected, and following the Tach set up, the unit will then crank until the engine is producing the preset RPM programmed into the unit's memory. My experience with the RS82 is favorable, but every now and then, the tach wire must be used to be more reliable, especially on some older model vehicles. I have no knowledge of being able to add crank time such as DEI units are capable of.

1. Open driver's door - leave it open (door trigger must be connected on the alarm).
2. Turn ignition key on.
3. Within 5 seconds, press the valet/programming button once and release.
4. Press valet/programming button again and hold it down.
5. With valet/programming button held down, you should hear the siren chirp within a few seconds. After the chirp, press the lock button on your new remote.
6. After pressing the remote's lock button, you should hear a short blast from the siren. Now release the valet/programming button.

If this is a Prestige alarm with a starter disable, turn ignition on, press and release valet switch. This manually disarms the alarm. If your vehicle does not have a starter disable, then your issue is mechanical with the vehicle itself.If your battery is fully charged, then you may want to check the crank fuse for the vehicle. If the fuses are all good, try starting the vehicle in a different gear, (R,N,D).

Use a razor blade to remove the tape at the connection, remove wire, tape the spliced portion of the wire. If it's soldered, cut the wire at the connection, tape connection. Make sure that the soldered connection does not poke through the tape. If T-taps were used, use a small hook tool to open the connector, remove the metal splicing thingy, tape spliced portion of the wire. Watch your finger tips with the hook tool..painful when poked.
