Generic, All Around Useful Painting Tips...
When faced with an expensive Paintbrush with dried paint, don't toss it, Save It...
- Soak it overnight - Starting out with very warm Vinegar.
Now so it doesn't happen again...
- Clean well, Place it into proper sized Ziplock Bag & then put into a Pringles, or Coffee can, Then cap it with the plastic Lid.
When storing a partially used can of paint, instead of just putting the lid on it,
- place a sheet of plastic sheeting like Saran Wrap over the top, then press the lid on.
Instead of using the edge of the can to remove excess paint,
- find a large thick Rubber Band, or Tie a wire or Twine over the top and bottom, exposing it over the middle of the opened can. Now just use that to remove excess paint & it will fall directly into middle of can and keeps can clean.
If your painted project appears a little rough after painting...
- Don't use sandpaper or steel wool to remove roughness, that will leave scratch marks, even if gone over lightly, instead use Brown Paper Bag.
If going to apply new coat or 1st coat over metal,
- wipe down really well with Vinegar. This will help keep paint from bubbling, chipping, blistering or peeling away.
To keep paint brush marks from being noticeable, especially on furniture or cabinetry, or Doors,
- Use a product called Flotrol. This will eliminate streak and brush marks.
And one more tip
When needing to know what type of paint is on your project that you want to repaint...
- Pour some Vinegar on a cotton ball, then rub on the paint. If cotton ball has paint on it, it is Latex, Not Oil based.

Have a hallmark millennium express ornament with moving trains not running can it be repaired
I did come across this info on
www.hallmark.com the other day.
For exchanges or refunds on defective Keepsake Ornaments, return the product to the place of purchase or any Hallmark Gold Crown store. This includes any current years UL-listed ornament, those that plug in to your light string.
TIP:
Illumination ornaments are not Keepsake ornaments and they do not have a warranty. Do not send Illumination ornaments in for a replacement or refund, they will not be returned to you if you do.
If so, the ornaments may not operate properly. This is NOT a defect. Too many special feature ornaments on a light string can cause lights to dim and/or ornaments to function slowly or not at all.
When multiple special feature ornaments are plugged into a single light string and one or more of the ornaments and/or light string does not perform as desired, remove special feature ornaments one at a time until the desired functionality returns.
Hallmark Keepsake UL-Listed Ornaments, those that plug in to your light string, have a 3-year warranty against manufacturer's defects. If your non-working ornament was purchased from a Hallmark retailer and it is dated for these years, 2005, 2006, and 2007, please mail it to:
Hallmark Consumer Care Fulfillment Center
Mail Drop #216
P.O. Box 419034
Kansas City, MO 64141-6034
The above addresses do not have replacements for 2008 UL-Listed ornaments. All 2008 ornaments will need to be returned to the place of purchase for exchange or refund.
Pack your ornament carefully. Write your name and address clearly on the outside of the package. Enclose a detailed letter with your name, address ( must be a valid street address, no PO Box, APO/FPO or non-continental US) and phone number and an explanation of the problem you're experiencing. You should insure your shipment so you can be reimbursed by the shipper in case of loss or damage.
If we no longer have a replacement ornament we will request a Courtesy Certificate for the retail value of your UL-listed ornament and the ornament will be returned to you.
Lionel power transformer lights, whistles work but trains won't move
You will need to first put a meter on the leads of the transformer an see if it is putting out the proper amount of voltage and amperage. The output of each will be listed on the back of the transformer.....ex voltage output will be 12v output. If you eliminate that then you have to go the the track and make sure all of the pieces of track are connected properly. If the current through the track is disrupted then you will not be able to move the train. If this is an older set then cleaning the tracks may help this.
My Cricut Expression keeps turning on and off.
I would contact cricut because you may have a defective machine. I had an expression and cut one thing then it froze. We did the reset and that did not resolve the issue. Cricut had me send my machine back and they shipped a new one. Mind you they will put a charge on your credit card only to protect themselves. You just ship yours to them the way they tell you in the one you receive. Let me know if you do not have their contact number.
Why beeswax candles are so good?
Paraffin burns quickly without a trace, while a wax product melts slowly, practically without dripping and sometimes making crackling sounds.
Beeswax pillar candles have a light honey aroma, while paraffin is odorless. The wax is cut easily and effortlessly, the cut is smooth and does not crumble. Paraffin is a solid material, and from such an effect it simply crumbles. If you do not use a wax candle for a long time, it becomes covered with a white coating. At the same time, paraffin, at any time and storage conditions, externally remains unchanged. If you hold the glass over a paraffin candle flame, noticeable soot will immediately form on it. The wax either does not give off soot, or it can only lead to a subtle darkening of the glass.
