Question edited for clarity, it's a 'Brother' not your brother. ;>) That isn't the Model number, it is the Serial number. There is help here. Brother will tell you what your machine is from the serial number and will also supply a new foot control. Try cleaning the area below the needle plate. See owners manual (p45).

Always caused by incorrect tension, top or bottom.

Difficult to say. You may have to start out by replacing the parts that you know were damaged and then work from there.

Check the Reverse Switch (just below the Stitch Selector) to see if it is or has returned to the UP Position. If you can't press it Down it may be stuck or broken. You may have to take it to a repair shop.

Take off the panel that conceals the lamp (see your instruction manual) and you will see another screw that needs to be removed before you can take the larger back panel off.

You receive the error message E6 when the motor locked up because thread is tangled or the machine is seizing up. Remove the tangled thread, it it still happens that means your machine is seizing and requires service.
