Sorry... Print head damaged. There is an very low possibility to erase the error without buying new print head, but it's unprofitable

hi good day! the printer is error 50 due to a paper or some sensor error.. open the printer, or dismantle, clean the sensor and wash the pump of water and change the waste pad of new absorber. locate the sensor under the pump, clean it of alcohol.

This error is associated with the self test the printer does on the print head during power-up of the printer. Sadly, it is indicative of either a faulty print head or a faulty main control board, neither of which are easy or inexpensive to replace. Unless you can get hold of another machine with a different fault and swap over the print head and/or board (you'll need very good skills and tools to do this) then I'm afraid the machine is beyond economic repair*. * Brother will repair your machine but the cost will likley be more than a new one.

Probably print head or the print head PCB is faulty.

This is errors in purge station on your printer.If you are a professional disassembly the printer and look purge unit.There is a gear which broke or the purge station just stuck.Clean the encoder strip and encoder gear.
If you not, better don't touch anything and look for service in your area.

you have a blocked or faulty printhead/ inksystem, you can print an internal print quality check and do deep head cleans, but in my experience this only helps 10-20% of the time. deep head cleans use A LOT of ink if you dont see a big improvment after 2 deep head cleans dont continue as you are just wasting ink

To clean a print cartridge you should a glaas of water and 15-25 ml of alcohol and mix it in a small wide pan. Dip the head (usually head is mounted to the cartridge itself) in the solution and move horizontally (while the head portion only submerged) keep it there for 5-10 minutes. This should clean your print head. After the head is dry you can mout it to the printer and print. Caution: Do not touch the electronic contacts on spilt water or alcohol in it. This will damage the printer.

Try new genuine cartridges

Error 49 is low temperature.

Replace the toner with one bought either from a Brother Stockist or a remanufacturer of toner cartridges.

Machine error 50 is a error in Purge unit.You can't fix it by yourself and your printer need service.In most case the cost of repair is more than cost of new printer.

Downloaded service & repair manual for brother mfc 5840CW- my unit. Will follow repair directions to check the memory then replace required parts. Will be cheaper and faster than finding a repair shop and paying as much as the macine to fix it! Rip off prices for repairs today on units so they can get you to leave them and buy a new one. Then they fix the unit and sell it "refurbished"- not mine!

It appears that one can purchase the black cartridge separately from the colour cartridges. But your Brother machine is designed to stop ALL printing operations when any of the ink cartridges are empty. In that case you would need to replace all ink cartridges that are empty in order to resume printing.

Cooling fan blocked check and clean

The slides you are moving are for the drum units, you could try using canned air to blow in the same area that the sliders slide across, if that doesn't help you may need a new drum unit..

Hi, check to see if there is any foreign object jamming the print mechanism, check all drive belts. If this doesn't show nup any problems, I'm afraid that you have a failure that will require dis-assembly and repair by a company who deals in these printers.
