Tension spring on door

I found the answer (see below) posted on another web site. I followed the instructions and replaced the spring. I found, as the original poster had, that the new spring works better than the original and is much more sturdy. To the original instructions, I would add the following: 1) There are about 20 screws so have patience removing and replacing the screws. 2) Step 3, "Slide off the rear panel" requires further clarification as the panel will not slide off even with all screws removed. I had to turn the oven over, with the top of the oven sitting on the work table. I then used a screw driver to lift the two tabs that hold the back panel to the bottom panel. With the tabs lifted, the back panel will rotate away from the oven along the edge where back panel slides into the top panel. The back panel can then be slid out. I have included three photos that show this step. 3) Step 7, "Re-attach feet": Be sure to use the guides on the bottom of the oven to slide the foot assembly onto the oven. I had unsuccessfully tried to screw the feet onto the oven without using the guides. Oringinal instructions for replacing the broken spring: Just repaired this yesterday. Got a spring from Lowes (Hillman Part # 543028 for about $4), it's larger than the original but seems much sturdier, original is really thin metal. Fit the space provided without problem. Oddly, end result was a more 'giving' spring action, prefer it to original, which loved to snap shut unless door was 100% opened (ie fully 90 degree open). This is for BOV800XL: 1. Remove all rear screws 2. Remove feet entirely 3. Slide off rear panel 4. I was not able to remove top housing - but I was able to gently pry sides open just enough to thread the new spring with a little ingenuity and effort. Watch out for sharp metal edges everywhere. 5. Slide back in (remember that top edge goes under the top edge/lip) 6. Put all screws back in 7. Re-attach feet Good luck! 7a505b80-f785-4973-b674-12594d9dcb1d.jpg 2e67ee3d-99c9-4e88-8b9f-8d1721e5caa6.jpg 529808f4-8d72-4aea-8286-b525347addee.jpg

Oven door suddenly gave way no tension any more

Breville BOV845. I managed to partially detach the outer shell on the left side only. Found "the" loose spring inside with both ends snapped off & gone. Could see where spring attaches to a hole in the end of the door's left side "arm" but could not see where the other end of the spring would attach to inside the body. Had I seen an obvious location, I would've rebent the ends of the spring & fixed it. Or matched up spring at Hrdwre store & replaced it. Online schematics are blurry & inconclusive. Almost all parts are NLA, obsolete.

Breville convection fan making loud noise

The inside bushing is bad. You will need to replace the fan motor. The high temps wirrling around the fan dries out the bushing.

What does error code E01 mean on a Breville toaster oven and how do I get it fixed?

An E01 error is not usually an error that you can fix. First, unplug the toaster oven for 30 minutes. If the error recurs, then the oven's control detected an internal fault. If the toaster oven is under warranty (one year), contact Breville Consumer Services at (866-)273-8455 or [email protected] . If the toaster oven is not under warranty, it's probably better to replace the toaster oven. The cost of shipping and the minimum repair diagnostic fees are probably more than a new toaster oven. I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

What does error code E01 mean on a breville toaster oven and how to fix it?

E01 error message on my Breville Smart oven (about 3 years old.) I searched the web for info and have come up w/very little--the manual just says it has to be handled by Breville and doesn't give any more info either. Has anyone encountered this? Something I saw online indicated it might be a fatal error message..

The bottom heating elements on my breville toaster oven model BOV 800 XL stopped working. What to do?

You could have them replaced but will it be cost effective to do so? Maybe a new toaster would be better and cheaper.

No Heat; Controls, LED work fine

I have the same toaster oven and it developed the same problem. There is a thermal fuse with a 172C trip point. I replaced it with a new part and it worked fine for another week. I replaced it again with a fuse with a 192C trip point and that's been working for a couple of months now. Some pointers for replacing the fuse. 1) you need a Philips screwdriver with an 11" (30cm) shaft to get at the screws behind the control panel. 2) you only need to take off the feet and open the right side (looking at the toaster from the front). 3) The thermal fuse is in a white flexible plastic tube, held in place with a metal bracket. 4) You can pull the old fuse from the wire clamp using 2 pairs of plyers. I re-used the same clamps to connect the new fuse to the existing wires. 5) Replacement fuses can be found on EBAY for about $1.50 (includes shipping from Hong Kong)

Breville smart oven no heat or convection fan. LCD and controls working and can hear the oven clicking on.

The fan probably operated on the heat... I would tackle the THERMOSTATS, heat elements (at least 2) and/or fuse first. My favorite supplier, appliancepartspros, struck out on Breville (never-mind) I'll add a couple of credible ones at the bottom. Sears parts is a good information source... but very pricey ($$$$) for the EXACT SAME PARTS you can get elsewhere... If you can determine from your OWNERS papers which part you want to try first... get the operating parameters... and and check with a volt meter (ohms scale... power OFF)... for continuity on the FUSE, heaters & thermostat. There is a possibility your control board (PCB) is at fault... it seems to be getting scarce... Turn it over and look for a burned/broken solder joint. http://www.ereplacementparts.com/breville-bov800xl-smart-oven-parts-c-116052_116061_116092.html In any case... get three prices... In the event that PCB is the issue I do recommend LOOKING TO SEARS because of their parts support and warranty... Good luck (finding the FUSE).
