Astatic Radio Communications - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support
Which astatic d104 unamplified mic is compatible with a tram d201
ALL D104 microphones are high impedance devices. It is the mic stands that are different. The non-amplified stands are intended to work with tube radio equipment. The transistorized bases are intended to drive solid state transmitters, but will also drive tube equipment. The D104 microphone with the non-amplified base will work well with this radio as it has a very high impedance input.
Mic wiring diagram for a realistic Navaho TRC -490
Check out this website www.qsl.net/g4wpw/astaticbook.pdf. It should help you out. Also, your D-104 should have the amplifier in the base. You'll see a hole in the base with an adjustment beneath it. You will have to adjust your transmit level with this. Make sure that you have a battery installed!
My palomar 225amp online it arrived w/ a 250 black faceplate.Amp lks new & pills and board look new. Running a galaxy959 it wrks grt. SWR 1.1 on wilson1000. Lights work, preamp wrks. No transmit?
there is your problem . You bought it on ebay ,paid twice as much as it is actually worth and you got screwed . Now you have to get it fixed because you bought a broken piece of equipment. If you have another radio hook it up to the amp and see if it works . Maybe the amp don't like your radio? If it doesn't work then we know its the amp so now treat it like another radio and look inside to see if anything is out of place or maybe burnt , from ebay . You might need a multi meter to do this . check all your voltages and make sure the amp has continuity going from pl to pl set your meter to ohms and insert the probes into the hole on each pl . that will tell you if there is contact . Now you should get a schematic to check out all the voltages of the components inside . It just might be that the amp is drawing to much or not enough amps to run it . I am confident you will find the problem and get it fixed .
Need manual onpdc 5 antenna matcher how does it work?
you have to set it up by attaching the coax to the proper connector. Now check your SWR on channels 1/40/and 19 make sure you write down your results. Now if you can't get your antenna to read 2:1 then use the matcher to bring the SWR down. All you are doing is telling the radio that the antenna is a good match.
How does a astatic pdc1 meter work
As you have the meter in your hands looking at it ,on the right you will see the letters ANT. for antenna .this is where you attach your antenna wire . Now you need a jumper wire to attach to the side that says TRANS . Attach one end of the jumper to the meter and the other end to the radio .make sure the meter is on SWR set the meter to forw and key the mic. now use the knob to adjust for set. Now set meter on ref and key the mic. the number you see is your SWR This should be done on channels 1, 40 and then on 20.for a mid band SWR.
How do u use it
hook it up to your radio , then set your radio to channel one , key the mic then adjust the meter to read the set line , now read the #'s and write them down. Do the same thing on channel 40 then on 19 . If your reading is higher on 40 than on 1 your antenna is long and need to be be shortened . If its higher on 1 then it has to be shortened . Now repeat this until you have at least a 1.1:5 reading.
My astatic d104 mic squeals
like a pig it does . get it as far from the speaker as you can and if your radio has mic gain turn it down to about half . That should take care of it,but if it doesn't there is another way . You can change mics or open it up and solder a 4700 ohm 1/4 watt in line with the audio wire then solder a .001 waffer cap to one end of the resistor and another to the other end then solder them to the shield wire . ________________x________x________________ audio
