I have an Asko 10504

Hello Helen,

Welcome to FixYa.

To answer your question, "i am trying to open the drain plug to check for buttons etc but cant get it to unlock. is there a trick to it? No not really. Just unscrew it counter clockwise,

however...

The issue with these Asko pump insets/filters....

i.e.

they can become clogged with items such as coins, hair-pins etc. that can actually damage the part.

Unfortunately once they are clogged to a degree removing the filter by normal means becomes difficult or impossible without breaking it.

The image I attached above is an example of a pump I had to remove and disassemble to clean it out so the filter could be removed/unscrewed, hence the need for the "worm-gear" clamps had to be used to replace the original "one-time" clamps. That though involves removing the access panel...

plus the tub bellows and drain hoses etc. pretty involved.

If you indeed break this part during your attempts to remove it, a replacement is available, Asko original part # 88 010 69 and available at on-line retailer "repairclinic.com" for about $25-$30USD.

Thank you for choosing FixYa and good luck.

No power to Asko W6441 Front load washer , fuses ok

Check the lid switch. These are usually made of plastic, and they break easily. They are often the ;problem.

Does the W6222 filter have gauze, mesh or some

that is basically what it does stops coins buttons bra wires etc most washing machines have a section in the pipe before the pump where the hose comes out a few inches above the bottom and this is like a trap where objects fall and are retained as most machines are difficult to get to the hose or pump , having a filter there is a bit impracticable as you would be cleaning it every other wash if your machnie doesn't have an end trap arrangement you could improvise such a unit using a "T" section of plastic pipe with the hose on one end , a cap on the other and the hose to the pump from the middle

What would cause a nasty metal nashing sound when machine goes from medium spin to high speed spin during spin cycle?

Hi dear, As I know it happens to other Asko washer models as well. From 800 rpm going up to 12-14 or 1600 rpm. That sounds happens due to vibration generated from motor. I do not thing you can do much about it unless changing motor, which is costly remedy. Thanks.
