Imac intel will not power on
Possible failed video card. 3rd LED indicates MLB and GPU are communicating: (CAUTION! There is high voltage from the powersupply so any attempt to open iMac other than removing glass panel to see the indicators...should be done by authorized ACMT)
- LED 1 - Indicates that the trickle voltage from the power supply is detected by the main logic board. This LED will remain ON while the iMac is connected to the AC power. The LED will remain on even when the computer has been shut down or put to sleep. The LED will turn off only if the AC power is disconnected or the power supply is faulty.
- LED 2 - Indicates that the main logic board has detected proper power from the power supply when the computer is turned on. This LED will be ON when the computer is turned on and the power supply is working correctly.
- LED 3 - Indicates that the computer and the video card are communicating. This LED will be ON when the computer is communicating properly with the video card. If LEDs 1 and 2 are ON and you heard the startup sound, but LED 3 is OFF, then the video card might be installed incorrectly or need replacement.
- LED 4 - Indicates that the computer and the LCD display panel are communicating. This LED will be ON when the computer is turned on and video signal is being generated. If the LED is ON and there is no image on the LCD display panel, the LCD display panel or inverter might be installed incorrectly or need replacement.
My Super Drive 8X slot
- Hi,
- The Super Drive may be trying to eject a disk that is not even physically there. this worked for me before as a kind of reset.
- Mac OS X - Force Ejecting a CD
- Restart your computer, and hold down the mouse button. If you have a 2 button mouse, hold down the left click.
- If your computer has an eject key on the keyboard, restart the computer again, this time holding the eject key.
- Open a Terminal window and type in drutil tray eject.
Hope this works for you

How do I put a People's United Bank "icon" (app) on my iMac desktop to avoid the laborious process of going to their website, signing in, etc., etc. every time I want to access my account online?
First, you'd have to visit your login page in the browser of your choice. Once there, click in the address bar... you'll see what's referred to as a Favicon at the left of the address. This is a small corporate icon. Drag that icon to your desktop... it should create a .webloc (web location) doc with a generic icon.
Next, do a Google search for the People's United Bank logo (or simply save my shared pic, if it's the right one).
Now comes the fun part! Select, but don't double click, the web shortcut you copied to your desktop. Hold down the Command-I keys to bring up the Info window... you can also do this by going to selecting the file, going to File>Get Info. In the window that pops up, you'll see the same generic icon in the upper left of the window. Click on that, and you'll see it highlighted in blue.
The next step might seem tricky, but it's really not. Open your PUN logo file in Preview, choose Select All under the Edit drop down menu, and copy the pic. Then go BACK to your Get Info window and simply paste the graphic in place of the generic icon.

What are my options of cloning from HDD to SSD?
With internal/external hard drives being as low in price as they are, I'd recommend the easiest solution as follows: Buy the SSD you want and an external sled for mounting the drive. Clone your current HDD to the sledded SSD. This would allow you to navigate through to see if there are indeed two partitions on the device.
While not having used it in a few years, there are two apps that I've had success with: Carbon Copy Cloner and Super Duper! The key in the instance of cloning would be to make sure that your clone is bootable... otherwise, it's a massive exercise in futility!
Hope this info helps!
