Hi Amy Collins, What is iOS it is APPLE and apple do not licence out their stuff. This results in Apple only running apple operating systems. Android is a Google operating system and as Apple don't want you running none apple software on their devices you can't run Android on Apple. However - It would require an app that could emulate Android which might be explained in the link below

Hi Kim,

Android 4.4 is actually quite an old version of the O.S. It dates back to October 2013. For you to have an idea, the current version of Android is 8.1. It is possible that the application you want to install requires a more recent version of Android than 4.4.

Sadly, most phones that run version 4.4 cannot be upgraded all the way to 8.1 since each new version of Android requires more and more hardware elements each time, such as requiring more memory or a faster processor.

Normally, you will get notifications from OTA (over-the-air) when the updates are available for you. From here, you can open it and tap the update action to upgrade Android system to the latest version. However, if for whatever reason, it isn't being rolled out to your phone or you accidentally cleared the notification, then you need to upgrade Android version manually:
  1. Connect your Android phone to the Wi-Fi Network.
  2. Go to Settings > About device, then tap System Updates > Check for Updates > Update to download and Install the latest Android version.
  3. Your phone will automatically reboot and upgrade when the installation completed.

Firmware, and operating system software are two completely different animals.

The firmware starts when you turn the phone on and tells it what to do including loading the Android Software. Then the operating system and firmware work together.

Firmware is seldom updated unless there is an issue or something new that the makers want it to do.
