could be low on freon or contactor stuck on compressor

neither wire control fan they are there to offset the inductive reactance in the fan winding. a relay in unit controls fan motor

Check the owner's manual or Google for filter location. Check the intake in the tub for a screen that might be clogged.

replace compressor capacitor.

have someone check the freon in system. the temperture drop should be 15 to 18 degrees between return air and supply air.

check squirrel cage blower wheel for damaged vanes.

most have a run capacitor. replace that.

bad contactor on outside unit

check squirrel cage on fan motor for damaged vanes or loose on shaft, bearings on motor.

replace capacitor.

coil froze up.

should not be that noisy. fan bracket loose or blade out of balance.

compressor not running or low on freon.

new coils have a chemical residue on them the technician is suppose to use 409 or other solution to wash them before installation.

it would be in air-handler in attic. check fuse at control board usually 3 amp that protects transformer.

thermostat or board.

try compressor capacitor.

bad capacitor or fan motor.
