I have an American Standard bathroom faucet. The

Assuming the drain plug is the pop-up type where you pull a small rod up behind the faucet, you can try the following:
In the cabinet below the sink you will see the rod come down that operates the sink drain plug. There is a horizontal rod connected to this that goes into the drain line with a small round cap. Unscrew this cap and pull the rod out. The drain plug should come up freely from the drain. After cleaning reinsert the drain plug and be sure the horizontal rod goes into the drain and through the hole at the bottom of the drain plug shaft. Seat the round ball from the horizontal shaft into the drain line and tighten the round cap to hold the horizontal rod in the drain.

I have an American Standard shower that drips out

Hi kwbaker! Assuming the cartridge is new and the water drips at both hot and cold settings, I would check your shower head. It is not uncommon for debris to collect in the screening there and clog the spray nozzle. To check the shower head you'll need to remove it from its piping. Use two tools--I normally use an adjustable wrench and a strap wrench--to hold the wall pipe and simultaneaously turn the shower head counter-clockwise. The cresecent wrench grabs the hex-head of the shower head, while the strap wrench holds the chromed piping without scratching it. Be sure you don't lose the rubber washer inside the pipe-to-shower head connection! Once the head is removed, look inside it at the pipe side. You should be able to see into the mechanicals of the shower head--very often I'll see bits of rust or scale. Oftentimes its enough to rinse the pipe side of the head under a sink; in extreme situations it can be easier to replace the entire shower head.To replace the shower head, use two tools in the same manner in which the head was removed: crescent wrench to turn the shower head, strap wrench to hold supply piping. This time, however, turn the shower head clockwise until it tightens snug.Hope this helps!--Joe

Low water pressure

Remove the spray head and point the hose into the sink drain. Turn the faucet on. If you have good pressure, cal American Standard for a free replacement spray head.
If you still have low water pressure without the spray head, ask them for a new faucet cartridge.
After replacing the faucet cartridge, if you still have low water pressure you will need to ask for a new faucet, possibly free if yours is still under warranty.

The single handled faucets have a valve cartridge which needs to be replaced when it leaks. Disassemble the handle to find the valve inside. Take the valve to the hardware store to be sure you get the right one and reassemble. To disassemble, pop the cap off the lever, unscrew the single screw, then use slip-joint pliers to loosen the retainer nut. lift the cartridge out with pliers taking note of the direction of the notch at the top of the stem. Be sure to reassemble with the notch facing in the same direction. You should replace and lubricate the O-rings when you change the valve cartridge.
Since you have the numbers for that particular faucet, you might want to call around to find the cartridge first. Different models have different valves, so be sure yours is correct.

X + ( X + 2 ) + ( X + 4 ) = 105
3X + 6 = 105
3X = 105 - 6
3X = 99
X = 99/3
X = 33

I have an American Standard

Check these items:

1. If you installed new faucet seats, did you add a little pipe joint compound to the threads before installing them?

2. Make sure the shower diverter is in the off position and you're not seeing water leaking from the spout that could be coming from the shower pipe or residual water from the shower head.

3. Make sure you have the correct faucet washers - some or tapered and some are flat and must fit the stem counter bore correctly and that the counter bore isn't damaged or the stem shaft isn't bent. Make sure the waskers are the correct hardness.

4. Make sure the screws that secure the faucet washers are tight, but not too tight. It doesn't hurt to add a little pipe joint compound to the screws.

Cold water handle on my American Standard cold

There is an adapter from the faucet stem to the handle. A small gray plastic faucet part that frequently causes problems for many owners. You will need to call American Standard and ask for a new handle stem connector. The faucet came with a limited lifetime warranty and the part should be free. While you are getting one, you might as well get another for the other handle. American Standard's phone number is 1-800-442-1902.
