I have a 4 yesr old Jamo S 502 DVD surround sound system. The playback freezes intermittently and i took it to Genserve in Swindon for repair. They have advised that the replacement laser is not available. I wrote to Jamo but no luck there. I would like to try and get the unit repaired if possible and it seems crazy that the laser cannot be replaced in a unit relatively new. an you assist?

I have had this problem on numerous times. Once while in warranty. Discussed with technician and he reported that the gears get dirty and stick and need cleaning. Since last year, I get this message every 3-4 months. I take out all the screws from the bottom, open the cast carefully, and use some canned air, clear all the gears, gently rotate all of them. Put everything back together and should work fine.

You cannot replace the new lens your self. coz there are some process to replace a new lens. withour much knowledge of servicing you might damage the new lens too.

try to find some substitute for your technics lens

Problem Solved, I replaced the third capacitor (the same mf and V as the other two) and now it works great. I'd like to say "Thanks" to all of the folks who had a helping hand in this one!

just repaired my se 501 poor solder conections on blue rleays by speaker jacks,also blown center speaker seems there are 2 in it one blew and so did cpacitor running now just hooked up one in center speaker sonds great also stay at 8 ohms setting
