Hello, I have a custom application but the scanner won't work with it. is there some way to enable the scanner to tell it to work. I have a quick scan sample app that works fine, but my custon app doesn't work.

Hello,
there are several ways to use the scanner: you can have an application directly with scanner drivers implemented. Or you can install the application DataWedge provided by the manufacturer.
The DataWedge application will activate the scanner and the decoded barcode is sent as usual keypad input to the system. The application is running in background, so you can have your favourite simple application in foreground and scan data directly.

Hello Bruce, Generally speaking I would go into your control panel and uninstall the application, and then re-install it all together. This may take slightly longer, however it would be better to install it over then to try and fix a corrupt install.

Hello... It appears that it's not an uncommon problem. One workaround would be to use the "Scaner and Camera Wizard" that comes with Windows. You can find it in XP in the start menu-accesories. In win7 you press the start button and type scanner, you will have a list of programs, documents and other files related to the scanner, use the first one it finds. The only draw back is that you won't be able to use some functions, can't tell you which as i don't have the device.What windows version are you using?

Check the web-site of the manufacturer of the computer (and the motherboard) to see if they have updated device-drivers for Windows 7.

Are you sure that you've plugged the microphone into the 'pink' ("microphone-in") socket?

Open the "sound-mixer" application, and check that the "microphone-in" is not muted,
and that the slider is pushed to the maximum level.

Try a different microphone.

The barcode reader can only be used by any application developed. To read barcodes for a program like notepad, excel, etc.., then there is a program that sends the reading of the scanner into the keyboard buffer. You can also read barcodes with the camera. The buttons are also programmable.
