Greetings, I can't find a driver for the soundcard in my Sony VAIO VGN-FE53 running windows XP. I can't even detect what hardware sound component it has. Can you help? Jimi

Sony Vaio VGN A-690 no battery detected

Yeah. If when you take out the A/C adapter, the laptop goes off immediately, even though you have bought a new battery, then it's definitely some hardware issue with the laptop itself. I'd say just live with it as it wouldn't be worth getting fixed (cheaper to get a new laptop).

If it can run on battery fine, it's just that windows indicates that the battery is not detected, then it could be a software issue. But given it's the same in Windows 7 as with XP, this could be BIOS related. Perhaps try flashing the BIOS?

Sony viao VGN-AR28GP pci sound driver

All you should need to do is reinstall the driver for your soundcard/onboard if not using added soundcard. This driver will be on the cd that came with your soundcard. Hope this helps.
