Red light coming on ; tank is filling up. I drain tank, light goes out. However, the tank fills up again and red light goes on.
Fortunately, from what you have described, the unit is working as it should. But, the frequency that it's occurring is what I think you're concerned about.
If you are operating the Dehumidifier Mode along with the Cooling Mode, this will generate more water in the tank and require more frequent draining. Running the Dehumidifier and the AC (Cool) at the same time is not recommended. It reduces the cooling capacity of the AC Mode and generates heat in the room. And, as you already know, more water.
Hope this helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa.
Didn't know it could be in both cool & dehumidify at the same time. I believe I have it just in "cool" mode (snow flake versus two rain drops/display).
Yes it can function simultaneously . But, if you're certain it's only in AC mode, then check the exhaust hose for obstructions or that the exhaust has has to low of a bend running to the window. Either cab cause some of the moisture from not being exhausted thru the hose to the outside. Other than the frequency of having to empty the bucket, is the AC cooling like ti should?
mine is doing the same thing. it runs for like 45 minutes, then has to be drained then it will run again. very frustrating because we havent used it much at all. its not the humidity because we tried it on a 50 degree day just to check.
We just bought our portable AC and we are also having to empty it every 45 min. We had a smaller unit in the room and did not need to keep emptying it, I’m wondering if it’s just malfunctioning. I have 3 other portables and the tanks do not fill up every 45 min. We are only running it on cool mode, not dehumidifier mode.
