Previous homeowner turned off GE Spacesaver 2.0 microwave display and now we can't turn it back on. Tried directions given to press option button 5 times then #1 to turn display back on. Doesn't work. Tried unplugging for a few minutes as well but doesn't reset. Need display or we have no idea if we have entered cook times correctly.

GE Microwave ovens, and Microwave Ovens produced by GE but released under different brand names, have had several power problems for the past 20 years. Because it is so easy to sell parts and charge outrageous rates for repair GE never corrected the problems. They just continued it in the next model. They found that you would most likely purchase a new unit rather than paying $75. for a service charge, and $150. for labor plus parts (if out of warranty period).
Most failures were cold solder connections on the power relay board. These would come completely dis-connected after arcing and burning away the solder. Could be 1 month, could be years, but they knew it would happen. This power relay board feeds 120volts to the LV (low voltage) side of the HV (high voltage) Transformer. No High Voltage,,No cook. Everything seems to run normal, but if you listen carefully you will not hear the low tone from the HV Transformer. Over my thirty years in the business I have re-soldered rather than replace so many I couldn't count.
Next to that, a defective Magnetron.

unplug the unit and if you can open the housing and slowly remove the ribbon cable of the touchpad console to the main board. put it back after 5 minutes and try it. let me know what happen.

I CAN'T FIND THE SCREWS TO ATTACH THE TOP OF THE SPACE SAVER TO THYE BOTTOM OF THE UPPER CABIONET, WHAT SIZE OF SCREW IS THIS. WHY DOESN'T IT HAVE A NORMAL SCREW, I ALREADY WENT THROUGH ALL THE SCREWS THAT LOWES HAS.

Its a free country Bage, but microwave energy is extremely dangerous! Repairs are not feasible unless performed by factory personnel under warrantry, and certified. I suggest you contact the manufacturer about the problem.

Very easy to replace...at least on my JVM1790. Remove the top vent....the long plastic thing that runs along the top of the MW. Two screws on top of the micro. Behind the charcola filter (if you installed one) is an access area to the bulb. remove one screw and the entire assy comes out. Simply R & R the bulb.
