You should not lose the time/date if you replace the batteries within a minute of two. I've gotten pretty good at changing the batteries in my 850Z and rarely have to reset the time and date.

And if you have a DC transformer connected to the camera while replacing the batteries? Do you still have to reset the time and date?

The manual states that when you change the batteries, you will have to reset the date and time; this is normal operation for this camera (though it is a pain!!!)

Two things....my approx.18 month old battery died and i bought a replacement yesterday. is this the normal life expectancy? 2nd. Today, with a totally charged battery, I took eight pictures. Later I...

To answer your questions, depending on how much use, (meaning how many snap shoots) will dictate whether your camera has reached its life expectancy. The proper procedure for long life with the battery is to have it totally drain out before charging it. If charged too soon the battery has a memory and will only work as long as the short period the battery was charged. It sounds like camera is worn out. Good Luck

Compaq Presario 1272 save disk error

On the motherboard of all computers is a small battery. It looks like a watch battery. The purpose is to keep a small amount of electricity going to the motherboard so the time and date can stay current. When that battery gets low on power or dies then the time and date is wrong. Its called the CMOS battery and it needs to be replaced and then everything will return back to normal. You can do it yourself if you're confident or take it to computer repair shop.
