Try a head cleaner first and if that doesnt work then look around for a new cd player or use the computer as if its what i think it is then its not reading correctly and it not really repairable ,Well financialy viable as i think the memory reading of the circuitry is questionable.
Check controller cable between base and remote. Look for bent pins. If appears ok, you may have an internal loose connection. Try and narrow down if loose section is on base or remote. You could have it resoldered if needed. [email protected]
There may be dust inside the unit on the laser. Try shoting some compressed air in the CD drive area to clean out. Also, ensure that the CD surface is clean, and try a different factory made audio CD. Sometimes CD players have problems reading "burned" CD's.
Don't know if this unit is sensitive to the type of CD, but my Phillips recorders will ONLY burn the "Music CD's" (harder to find, more expensive). Read up on the difference of regular vs Music CD's. ALSO some recorders will not burn disks rated at lower or higher rates.
