I have had the Canon PRIXMA iP2600 for approximately a month and I am now experiencing the same problem loading paper. Evrytime I try to pront something out, the printer grabs the paper from the bottom right hand side of the paper unevenly causing a jam. It was working fine then all of a sudden, a problem! The printer was not dropped or mishandled in anyway remaining on the shelf for use. HELP!!!

i have had my printer for 3 weeks and i get a paper jam on the screen
when every thing is clear no jam paper What is up i got it from walmart.

  • gothicdarkne Jan 14, 2009

I too, have had this same exact problem of the rollers grabbing the paper at the bottom right of the paper and causing a paper jam. I only had the printer for about 3 weeks when this problem started, and it had probably only printed 15 pieces of paper in that 3 week period of time - very light usage. I am extremely disappointed that I wasted my money on a printer I hardly got to use... paying someone to fix it would probably cost me just as much as the printer. And Canon = no help at all! Their printer is faulty and they want me to pay them for assistance! No more Canon's for me.

I have only had this printer 2 weeks and have used it about 3 times. After the 3rd time it kept saying it had a paper jam. but even after i reset the paper this message kept popping up.. Canon needs to recall their faulty equipment and stopping ripping people off !

Turn the darn thing over and shake it. there's probably something in there. In mine it was a miniature oyster cracker. Works great now but I was about to go insane until i shook it out.

  • laurat06 Oct 25, 2010

I agree.. I have had mine about a year with no problems and then all of a sudden it was not printing due to a jam. So, I took this advice and turned it upside and shook it... out came a mini screwdriver- lol.... Works perfectly now

Dear all,
I will try to help you. Paper jam error may be caused by some possibilities. So, please notice this indication:

  • If the printer status is READY immediately after Power ON then Paper Jam Error message appears while feeding the paper: Sheet Feeder Unit is faulty or any other material (such as broken paper) present inside paper path blocking paper end to reach paper feed sensor.
  • If Paper Jam Error messages appears immediately after Power ON: Paper feed sensor or logic board is faulty
Corrective action:
  • Remove the material from paper path
  • Replace Sheet Feeder Unit
  • Replace Paper Feed Sensor / Logic Board
Please rate me as Fixya if you find this useful for you. Thanks.

If you having a paper jam problem which I had myself go to your control panel select your printer left click and selct properties and go to the maintence tab and select roller cleaning that should solve your problem with your papaer jam. If the problem persist then your best option is to return or get a new printer.

My canon ip2600 printer has a paper jam error, but there isn't.

Hello there
You may not see a paper jam.

This may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.
First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.
If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.

And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.

Also clean The purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP, Lexmark, Caonon and other inkjet printers, is where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing.

That is where you'll find the print head assembly parked on top of it.
It also has an electrical pump to milk the print heads and test for ink flow.

So clean all under where the heads are parked and on IP6600D models you can take out the heads just by clipping them out, and then clean well.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

I have a canon IP2600 printer only 4 months old and not used too much. It just started to pull the paper to one side when I try to print then it says there is a paper jam. The paper has an indent/groove...

In many cases, forcing (pulling out) the jammed paper in the printer might caused severe damages on the gears or some parts on the mechanical stability.
Noise problem might occurred if some of the joints (parts) were dis-aligned. Dis-assemble carefully the printer, and look for that damage. Put some grease and assemble.

Printer wont print

To solve the printing problem..

# Hold the cartridge upside down, with the bar-code label facing you and take a damp paper towel.
# Use the towel to wipe the printhead of the cartridge on the bottom (where the ink comes out). Wipe the printhead horizontally in one direction only (left to right).
# Continue doing this until it looks clean.
# Then dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure the ink is flowing.
# Next, look inside the printer and locate the carrier that holds ink cartridges. Caution: Make sure the cartridges are not installed at this point.

1. Look for a shiny piece of metal underneath the contacts at the back of the carrier.
2. Take a damp cotton swab (use water only!) and wipe along the bottom of the shiny metal piece. Note: You may need more than one swab.

# Reinstall the cartridges, making sure you snap them correctly into the printer.

Hi :) I'm trying to print on my Canon PIxma- mp480 to no avail

Hello
This can be due to a feeder wrong setting on the printer or on your PC: your printer tries to take paper from the back feeder, whereas your paper is on the front feeder....
try to check these settings in your PC and on your printer, and retry to print, hoping this helps
