Float switch is usually a white plastic unit with a black rubber boot on the bottom. you need to drain the water out of the sump before doing anything with the float.

have you checked the bin switch or the float?

Check to be sure the check valve is not leaking by. This will cause reduced capacity as they are controlled from water level. Remove, clean, and re-install the check valve and check its operation.
