Ge JVM1190 appears to be working but does not cook.

I placed a microwaveable plate of bacon wrapped in paper towels in my GE JVM1190 microwave and pressed time cook for 4 minutes just like I have always done. When the microwave beeped after the 4 minutes the bacon was still completely cold and uncooked.

When I hit Start the inside light comes on and the microwave makes the regular noise that it makes when it is cooking. It is not louder or quieter and there are no unusual noises.

When you hit Start to cook, do the inside light and turntable come on?

    Any unusual noises?

Is it louder or quieter than usual?

I spoke with a qualified microwave technician who advised me to buy a new microwave as the problem I was having indicated that the magnetron tube had blown. What a waste of time to ask for help from you.

Can you cook direct in the over glass dish.

Your question is not particularly clear. Are you referring to the revolving glass base in your microwave oven?

If so, the answer is yes. But why would you wish to, and what do you wish to cook on it?

If, for example, you want to cook a little bacon, then at least wrap the bacon in paper towel to absorb the grease. Personally, I use either specially-made microwave oven cookware or Pyrex glass dishes and jugs, say to cook custard or scrambled eggs.

JVM1190 wont cook

You have a blown actuator. This is the device that creates the microwaves that cook the food. The cost of one of these will be as much as a new unit.

We just bought the microwave 2 days ago. Was cooking bacon & when I went to put more in it won't come on. The light is out & nothing will work. Checked the house fuse & unplugged the microwave...

I would guess that the magnetron overheated since bacon is a low-moisture food.

(Does your manual suggest putting a half-cup of water in the unit when cooking bacon or popcorn?)

If it didn't come back on (even after resetting the unit by unplugging it for a few minutes then trying again) then I would say the magnetron thermal cutout blew.

But since it's under warranty, GE will fix it for you free.

Looking for Temperature probe for JVM1190

Most any standard microwave temperature probe should work, from places such as Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowe's, etc.

My jvm1190 reads F4 when we try to use auto functiions

There is a fuse blown, but I can't explain how to replace it. They are inside the unit. Good microwaves have many fuses and can be powered up, but have a blown element fuse.
