Motor on ly runs on high speed

Assume this is an electric vehicle?

The days of electric vehicles having a rheostat speed control and huge switches to change motor direction are far behind us.

Most modern electric vehicles employ a good deal of electronics with a switch mode power supply for speed regulation which controls hefty semiconductor devices. The forward/reverse switch would typically engage/disengage either relays or more semiconductor devices.

These devices are often placed on a common circuit board and any problems will need specialist investigation, repair or replacements. It is most unwise to reverse battery polarity when electronics are present - it is likely by doing so you have increased the repair cost...

Need the model #. During the mean time(back in the buggy farm) trace the wiring & check the control switch operation including the connections. Trial & error-swap the polarity on the main power feed to motor control & check ops. Motor runs forward, motor OK.

you may need to fit a new battery or the drive motor has burnt out?
if the battery is over 3 years old its past its sell by date and if its been ran fully flat often or left flat that will shorten its life as well,,,
the battery is not to pricy,, you could try testing the motor by hooking up with "jump leads" a car battery just to check the motor is ok,,,

the coil pack is likely bad especially since you changed the switch. call minkota and get the bench tast info (very simple) and then order and replace the coil pack about 26 dollars. be very careful how you put the magnet assembly back together and mark the position of the case on the outside before disassembly. order a new seal kit and use locktite on the shaft again when reassemling to seal the shaft tube for water. dont run motor uout of the water much as it uses the water to cool the shaft and you can damage the seals. good luck.

I would replace the high low switch for this peg perego gator.
The high low switch as seen here http://www.shopjandl.com/mepu0002.html will not allow it to go forward. The reverse switch will sometimes not work at all as well.
You can contact http://www.shopjandl.com/. They repair them and know how to figure out what is wrong.
I would also check the wiring on the motors. Sometimes the wiring comes loose and doesn't allow all the speeds to function properly.

Try to check the forward terminal connection high speed going to batterry, possible of loose connection.

It sounds like the direction switch has a broken connection on the "reverse" side.  Should be an easy fix (but you might need a soldering iron).

Problem #1:If you have taken the high speed safety device off the stick shift(small red plastic block screwed on below the yellow stick shift housing) then your high/low speed switch has gone out. There are two motors(one on each back wheel) that both have to come on when in high speed. Only one comes on for low speed. Problem #2: Sounds like you need hi/lo switch and possibly forward/reverse switch too. Before buying forward/reverse switch try putting a little grease on the white plastic assembly that engages the forward/reverse switch between the top piece and the piece that pushes down on top of the switch.
