Hi, You may have connected it wrong. Video 1 or 2 or 3. When you plug it in video 1 you have to select video 1 in the menu. If you have HDMI connection you have to switch to HDMI to watch. and so on. Most sets have TV/cable to watch normal TV. If this does not work go to a repair shop to fix. Good luck.

Sounds a bit hoky poky to me. but he has some piont too on what to set the TV up. You may not be able to do it yourself. Thats why I said go to a repair shop. They will have the tools and the know how to set it up right.

It sounds like the backlight is burned out. Its a long skinny tube that runs along the bottom of the screen that provides the light for the picture. Its actually not too hard to replace if you are somewhat mechanically inclined. Its just a plug or two and a bunch of screws. good luck

Have 50 inch samsung plasma tv.have sound but no picture.

If the sound is still going and you can change the channels then the problem is most certainly the ysus or zsus board.

Samsung hpn5039 worked for 6 years, now VERY dim. Thoughts? Can still see picture, barely.

The back plane lamps, and or the power lamp power supplies are failing. When considering 6 years of use, most likely both the lamps and the lamp supplies much be changed.
In many of these sets the back plane lamps are not replaceable. You will have to call the service rep in your area to find out if your set is serviceable.
From experience with these sets, after about 2 to 3 years proprietary parts become very difficult to have.

The power supply for the pixel voltages has failed.
You can have a Samsung dealer replace it for you.

Picture no sound, was floor model, never used till now, has been in storage, do we need speakers??

If it has an rca jack at the back that say audio out, try connecting that to a recievers input. If the sound plays on your reciever that means the sound processor inside works, at least at the small signal level.

Samsung Plasma 52 inch flatscreen vintage 2004 - black line

Hi my name is Roety,
I can help you with your issue ,
If the line is present on all inputs, and effects the TV menu you most likely need a new screen.
You can try changing buffers, reseating cables.

Purple blotch on screen

hi..This patch can be a result of your TV 's Auto Degaussing
Coil problem. Metallic parts of a TV gets magnetized and the
ADG coil demagnetizes them. At power on you should hear a
sound, which is the ADG coil.please check the ADG coil connector
it might have been pulled out. The ADG coil is wrapped around securely
on your TV's Picture tube and power is tapped directly from the AC
Main via a plug in type connector to the TV main circuit board.
check it out..

I have a Samsung plasma hpn5039, and i was watching tv and something started burning on the back, and the image went out. Does anybody know what that may be?

Two things,
1st -- power board problem
2nd -- Y- Main Board problem

If you are familiar with TV,
Open the back panel first then check the fuse on power & Y-main
Board.
It had problem that the board's which disconnected fuse on.

How do we know if its capacitors or power supply?

What is the problem with your TV?
It depends where or how the capacitors are connected and the function(s) they perform in the circuitry.
If the main capacitor(s) fail then there could be some intermittent ON/OFF or a buzzing noise getting to the speakers, bad or distorted video.
If you've have seen the power board on your plasma, you will see a few of them in there.
