I have 2 toilets and I was trying to troubleshoot on how to make the water stop dripping in the tank in bathroom #1 by looking at the setup in bathroom #2. I fixed bathroom #1 (i really don't know how) but now in bathroom #2 the water will not stop running in the tank. I have an American Standard (yellow) setup that has a big plastic thing on the left side that has a top that you can screw off. I messed with that a little. Can you assist me?
The reason your water keeps running is because the float has not closed of the valve in the stem on the left side. a quick fix is i take the rod that has the float on it and bend it down a little. i also make sure that the plug that fits over the drain seats properly alot of times through age the plug tends to harden up and not seat properly. if you cant get it to seat replace it. if your model has an adjustment screw on the valve body try adjusting that as well.......good luck please rate this

Water won't stop running. I have taken the yellow float apart on both of the toilets. There isn't anything that you would be able to bend. The piece is plastic. I have pulled everything out wiped it clean and then resealed everything making sure the cap is tightly adjusted. The rubber plastic around the center looked a little aged on one of them but the other was fine. I got the water to slow to a trickle but it still fills the tank completely and continues to run. Any thoughts????
