I have a Sharp Frost Free refrigerator Model SJ-68LM-C2W. I have noticed that both sides of the refrigerator are very warm. Temp. is set at 4. The refrigerator is fully stocked and the problem is that food is frozen (on all the shelves) sitting in the back, and food located in the front is cool --not cold. I must say, that I also do not have proper ventilation, as the idiot carpenter who had it built-in did not leave the recommended "breathing" space. I have 3cm. from the top (min. required 9cm) and 1.5 cm from ea side (6 cm recommended). The refrigerator has worked fine for 10 mos at settings 1 & 2 (with nominal food). It has been fully stocked about 1 month and I noticed the problem about 1 wk. ago. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Normally when the refrigerator side freezes, it's because of an air flow problem. It can be caused from a stuck or defective air diffuser, a control board or sensor if this model has them or a thermostat, if it has one. You can check the temperature in the freezer section, to see if it's getting too cold (below zero). To check the temperature, place a thermometer between some packages. Air temperature is not a good check. If it is too cold, it can also cause the fridge section to get too cold. Usually, adjusting the control, to a slighlty warmer setting, will correct this.

Not cooling and making ice

Ice is made when freezer temperature is cold. Freezer and refrigirator will not cool if iced up on back wall. Your defrost system failed, causing frost buildup on the coils and restricting airflow and heat transfer. Most likely cause is a defective defrost timer that is not advancing into defrost (2-3 times every 24 hours). Defrost system comprise Timer, Heater, and Thermostat. You need the tools to diagnose the cause or just try one by one to replace the parts. Other choice is to call a tech. The freezer must be defrosted one time manually to remove the long accumulated frost.

Layer of frost on the bottom surface of ice maker

during periods of high humidity and or high use, it is not unusual to notice frost on surfaces in the freezer. the ICM is susceptible due to it being metal and having warm(compared to freezer temp) water in it. make sure the doors ar closed tight and nothing is stuck in the gasket area.
