HP Plasma TV - Lost Picture

A few weeks back I turned on my tv and the opening "HP" initalizing screen was half black; then over the course of a couple minutes, the screen filled in so there was no more black blob, but it was as if I only had half the pixels, like watching tv on an old antenna set. I've heard the set just needs new plasma - is this true? If so, what is a good $ to pay and not get hosed.

    Mine has the same problem,

After about 2 yrs of care free service. Too bad, I thought HP used to make quality products. Seems to me they are manufacturing the same garbage electronics as other outsourced companies. What ever happened to 'made in the US' quality products.

If you have a solution, please let me know.

Half TV screen is black

you have a bad Y Sustain board or X Sustain board
undo the back (if you know how to deal with electronics) and with the TV unplugged disconnect one of the board and turn on, see if works or not and try with the other one till find out wich one is.

42 inch LG Plasma TV - Lost picture

Hi , I recently had the same problem which I was determined to fix . So I did a few weeks of research to find that it was the Y SUS board which burns out. I'm sure you realized that the TV gets hot. Personally I think this is why. circuit boards don't like heat and I've learned that the cooling fans are a joke. I replaced the board and got my picture back. I proved the fan theory because after the screen started to act up. I placed a cooling fan near the vent holes on top and the problem cleared right up,It also helps if you lower the brightness which helps out on the heat situation.I will soon be adding a fan with a temp. sensor. This shoud help if your screen has lines when you initially turn the cool TV on.then I have Some other costless solutions. Hope this helped these are great TV's and like our cars we maintain them not throw them away..................................Mr Wiseman

Samsung plasma TV, half screen is blacked out

Well, as per my last posting, I thought I would share. The problem of the bottom half of my 42 inch Samsung Plasma blacked out - meant a trip to the local TV repair shop. I have to say, they were great. I took it in and they were able to fix it after replacing a part - had my TV back in about a week. Cost was approx. $300. This was well worth it, considering how much I had paid for this TV only a few years ago. I had the repair done last month and so far, it's been great. Sorry, but I can't remember the name of the part.

Sanyo DP42746 42 in. plasma TV

Well I have the same problem with green light and no sound and no pix. After i opened it all up i checked the main power supply board and found all fuses good and the 12vdc side of the board dead. My best guess is this power board has many problems. All the driver boards for the screen are located on the perimiter of the screen. If you loose part of the power supply board you will loose part of functions of the tv. At this time i am looking to replace the entire power board. Will let you know the location and fix soon as i find it. jim [email protected]

Sony Trinitron KV-32S40 32" TV problem

This is a simple and common problem. The solder joints on the vertical output IC have cracked loose. I actually did a housecall on the exact same set with the exact same symptoms this morning! A good tech will resolder the pins of the vertical output IC and all other major solder joints on the main board and the set will play fine.

Half screen activated only

When only a half screen is produced, it is usually a upper or lower buffer board, if the top half is blank then it is the upper buffer, and of course if it's the bottom half then it's the bottom buffer board
