It is likely a defective rubber product, ie belt or idler tire. Here are some links to a company that still carries VCR parts and supplies. Hope this helps.

try a head cleaner tape, or professional head cleaning... aslo try another tape. Videotape is easily damaged as are the heads...

All I am looking for is the owners manual and a remote control for the VCR I purchased at Goodwill--Sharp model VC-H822.
