Cole, The cut you are describing is challenging, but possible on a 20" scroll saw. First the blade--- you call this a hollow plank. If this is something like a hollow-core door, then the 1.5" thickness will be no problem. If you have to cut through a solid 1.5" (as you would at the edge) then you have a slow go of it unless you can find a pretty coarse pitch blade (big teeth). Second, making the turn----- assuming you are making this cut somewhere near the center of the 5' lenghth, then you won't be able to simply make a 90 degree turn after you cut the initial 5 inches. But you can make an approximately 60 degree turn, then stop the saw, leave the workpiece in place with the blade still in the cut, and reset the blade to cut sideways (so that the teeth of the blade are facing to your left or right rather than pointing toward you.) Before you make this blade turn, however, you should make the other 5 inch cut, so that you don't have to make the blade turn twice. Alternatively, if the 5 x 1.5 piece you are removing is just scrap, then you can make your two 5 inch cuts just converge to a point at the middle of the 1.5 inch line so that you can remove most of the scrap without moving the blade. Then you can reset the blade more easily with the workpiece removed from the saw. I hope you found this helpful.---- Oh, one more thing! The 1.5 inch part of the cut would be a lot easier simply by using a coping saw - they are about $15. Actually, you could do the whole cut with a coping saw. Good luck! Al K

Why doesnt my accutime watch turn on even though it's fully charged?

It could be at the wrong setting for reserve power. Some have no indicator. If yours has one set it for the highest reserve because if it's set a low reserve it will just stop even after it's fully charged. Then there could be a bigger problem in the watch. Try to handwind it for 40-50 crown rotations and lay the watch down. This will make the mainspring full of power reserve.
Keep record of what elapsed hour the watch stops. If it's less than the published power reserve for that movement, there could be a problem with the movement itself.

What is the sharpening angle for Stihl MS 390 chainsaw

That depends on the use the chain is being put to. If it is for normal cross cutting like logs and felling then setting the chain teeth at 30 degrees is likely to be ok. If it is only for ripping - like cutting planks then set the chain to 10 degrees.

Don't forget to ensure All teeth are the same length otherwise the saw will try to cut in an ark - like a banana. Also don't forget to set the depth gauge on each tooth otherwise you will just be producing dust.

I am unable to cut 5" baseboard at 45 degree angle

from your last post this information was missing
when cutting at an angle the cut depth is always reduced and the 5" board is too thick
to do what you want the saw will have to be 10" or bigger because when cutting at an angle you are cutting a hypotenuse which is the longest dimension of a triangle
so if the saw cuts to a depth of 5" at right angles the angle cut will be longer because of the triangle effect

I'm needing to make a series of kerf cuts on a 12' wide plywood piece in order to bend it in a 15" arc. My problem is the kerf cut is deeper in the back of the board than the front.

It is important for even cuts that the board is fixtured properly. I would secure the plywood to a second board that is flat stiff and strong. A table top that is not warped may work OK. This will prevent the plywood from bending from the weight of the saw.

Use a scrap piece of material at the exact thickness of the plywood to allow the saw to cut through the width of the plywood .
You need to cut past the back edge to ensure the kerf depth is consistent.

If you cannot hold the saw flat and steady you may also need a lead in piece so the saw is flat and square before beginning the cut into the 12 inch wide plywood.

I would use a fence along the side of the saw as a guide relocating after each cut.

I bent the depth of cut scale on a Craftsman 7-1/4 in. Circular Saw. How to true it so I can again set correct depths?

With the saw unplugged, lay it upside down on a bench or table. Put a small scrap of 2x4 against the blade and adjust until the depth of the blade matches the thickness of the 2x4. Lock it in place, Then bend or adjust the depth scale so that it reads 1-1/2 inches. Good luck.

I recntly came across a rokinon 80x200 af-z 1:4.5 will this work on my d200 and do i need any adaptors or anything

It depends on the mount. Rokinon makes lenses with a variety of mounts. If this lens has a Nikon mount then it will work on the D200. If it has a Canon mount, for example, then it will not.
Nikon cameras have a deeper flange depth than other brands, so an adapter to allow another mount to work on a Nikon camera would have to have a negative thickness. Obviously no such mounts exist.

I am unable to raise or lower the cutting surface of my DW734 thickness planer. The turn handle is very hard to turn. Is there some kind of a locking mechanism ? If I had a manual I might be able to figure...

Follow this link: http://servicenet.dewalt.com/Products/Detail?productNumber=DW734

This will allow you to download the manual and exploded art for base, cutterhead and motor. You may also want to check the position of the turret stop. First of all, make sure the cutterhead lockdown lever is disengaged. Here is from the manual:

Your planer is equipped with a turret stop (M), shown in

Figure 11, for repetitive planing of pre-set depths. Stops are

set at 0", 1/4", 1/2" and 3/4". Use the 0" setting when planing

between 1/8" and 1/4".

TO SET A PLANING DEPTH

1. Be sure the carriage is set above 1-1/4" before trying to

set the turret stop.

2. Turn the turret stop until the desired measurement

shows (Fig. 11).

3. Unlock the head lock lever (Fig. 8). Turn the depth

adjustment crank, lowering the carriage by the desired

increments, until it contacts the turret stop.

NOTE: DO NOT USE FORCE TO CRANK THE CARRIAGE

BELOW THE LEVEL THAT THE TURRET STOP INDICATES.

PERMANENT DAMAGE TO THE HEIGHT

ADJUSTMENT SYSTEM ON YOUR PLANER WILL

RESULT.

NOTE: The 3/4" turret stop can be adjusted for other planing

thicknesses. Adjusting the 3/4" turret stop does not affect the

other turret stop settings.

TO ADJUST THE 3/4" STOP FOR OTHER

THICKNESSES

1. Unlock the head lock lever (Fig. 8) and turn the adjustment

handle counterclockwise to raise the cutter head.

2. From the back of the tool, locate the turret adjustment

bolt (N) shown in Figure 11. This bolt is set for a 3/4"

depth of cut at the factory. Use the crescent wrench provided

to loosen the jam nut. Adjust the bolt up or down to
reach the desired planing depth.

3. Turn the depth adjustment crank, lowering the carriage by
the desired increments, until it contacts the turret stop.

Hope this helps.
