Philips GoGear SA3245 - Playlists Not Showing Up on Player

I'm trying to sync playlists on my Windows Media Player 11 to my GoGear. I have added the playlists by dragging and dropping the playlists to the Sync list and also right clicking on the playlist and choosing to "add to sync list", and clicking the Start Sync buttong. It synchronizes but doesn't put the music on the player as playlists...it just puts them into individual folders by artist. Any suggestions??? Thank you for your help.

I have a philips GoGear SA3245/02. I have just the same problem. My son tried for me using WMP 11 in exactly the same way he moves playlists from his laptop to his Creative MP3 player, but no joy. The files moved over, but still the playlist menu on my player insisted there were no playlists.

How do I sort this out? (I have WMP 10 and am not up for installing MS Service Pack 2)

OMG i have the same problem with my Phillips SA3245/37. tried it all. even downloaded new software, searched online, and the manual was useless. I have come to believe too that this particular player (SA3245/37) will only let you have one playlist, the "playlist on the go" and you simply have to add your current songs to it. anyone out there know any different? maybe we should just call a Phillips tech and ask them!!

I have a similar problem, i tried adding songs by the sync list, now all i get on all screens on my mp3 is " file format not supported " I cannot add anything or play anything.

I have the same problem. It's really annoying how Philips encourages us not to use Vista and Windows Media Player 11 to transfer files to their audio and video players.

  • chili720 Feb 10, 2009

i have the exact same problem. so i guess there's just one playlist? then philips shouldn't have put the hot button for PLAYLISTS if we can't put playlists!

So how did you make copy MP3's into folders and drop them on the player?

Have solved this problem on GoGear syncing with WMP 11 by going to options on the device itself, then go to the "settings" option, scroll down to "PC Connection Preferences", from here you will select the check box saying "MTP" then back out of options and connect your device and go back to your WMP 11 and drag your playlists to the syncing area and resync your device. You should then be able to see your playlists under the playlist option in music along with the "playlist on the go" playlist.

Hope this will help!

I've called Philips twice on this. The first time, they told me I could save a playlist to my desktop, then drag it to the Playlists folder. But this didn't work. When I called just now, they told me the only playlist I could make is the on-the-go one that you can do only on the unit itself. Lame.

I have the same issue. My work around is to copy MP3s into folders and drop them on the player. Selecting the folder will then play only the songs in that folder. Poor Person's playlist.

A letter i received from the Phillips Consumer Care:
We understand that you were unable to sync the playlist you created to your Flash audio player. Please be informed that this unit is unable to support playlist created on the computer. The playlist must be created on the device. Please click on the link below to access the user's manual:

http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/s/sa3245_37/sa3245_37_dfu_aen.pdf

Please refer to page 10 for information on what buttons to push to add or delete currently playing song to list. Please refer to page 17 which shows how to to view songs in list.

TO Alovercast: "Selecting the folder will then play only the songs in that folder." How is this accomplished? Playing one song in that folder via the Folders view does not play all in that folder. Play repeats on that one song selected. There is no All Songs/Shuffle All option at top of list as there is in the Music option. thx

I don't think that the SA3245 mp3 player is capable of syncing the playlist itself, only the songs. The only playlist you can make is the playlist on the go. I'm not sure how true this is. But it seems to be the same way on my Philips SA3245 player.

Wen i delete music from the library in windows media player it also deletes it from my philips gogear mix how do i stop this

Hello,

Playlists to sync on the player can be set in Windows Media Player.
When selecting the Library or Sync tab in WMP full view, the GoGear is visible on the left side in the list.
The player can be either connected seeing the player's icon or not connected seeing the player's map name.

Right click the GoGear Mix and select Setup Sync...
The box, Sync this device automatically probably is selected.
Prevent the player from unattended synchronizing by unchecking this box: Especially when you're removing lists on the computer frequently.
Setup the the playlists to sync first and synchronize manually after that.
Temporary "Sync this device automatically'' must be selected, to be able to edit the playlists to synchronize.

On the right half of the Device Setup screen there''s the "Playlists to sync''.
Under playlists to synchronize, first remove all playlists or those you are going to delete in the library, before synchronizing.

When needing more information, just post a comment.

How do I create playlists?

The manual, etc is available at www.p4c.philips.com

You will have to, unfortunately, set up your Windows Media Player for Auto-Sync (has definite drawbacks - inclduing: adding songs, pictures, etc that you DON'T want into the GoGear). Playlists can only be synchronized to your player via “auto sync”. Autosync will automatically synchronize your Windows Media Player library content and your player content each time you connect your Player to the PC. If you use the “manual” sync option the tracks in the playlist will transfer to your player but the playlist itself will not.

Philips GoGear SA3245 - Playlists Not Showing Up on Player

·         Open up Windows Media Player(WMP) on your computer. To add a track to a playlist on your computer using WMP, click to highlight an item.

·         Right-click on the item that you want to add, then select Add to Playlist. A pop-up window will appear. Select an existing playlist or add a new one. Your selection is now added to your playlist.

·         Delete a track. When you do not want a track on your playlists anymore, you are able to delete it. To delete tracks and playlists, click to highlight an item. Right-click the item and select Delete from Library to delete it.

·         To Edit track information, click on a track. Right-click and select Edit. Click on the text boxes to edit relevant information.

·         Once all changes have been made, connect your GoGear to your computer with your USB cable and download the new playlists.

These directions only apply to the Philips SA6045/37:
It's not going to be easy, because you will have to do two undesirable things: 1) Set your player up for auto-sync, which will result in the player adding unwanted media files to your player without your consent - and possibly overloading your player; and 2) You will have to roll back to Windows Media Player 10.

If you ask me, it's not worth it, but here's the procedure:
  1. Playlists can only be synchronized to your player via “auto sync”. Autosync will automatically synchronize your Windows Media Player library content and your player content each time you connect your Player to the PC. If you use the “manual” sync option the tracks in the playlist will transfer to your player but the playlist itself will not.
  2. Hook up the Player to the computer, allow a few minutes for the Windows Media player to recognize and detect the connection of the Player.
  3. Click on the Sync tab.
    070507074130_18944.gif
  4. Click on “Sync settings” or “Set up sync”
    070507074142_18945.gif
  5. In the pop-up window, select the playlists that you want to sync
  6. Click “OK”, the sync will start automatically
Note: playlists never show up in the device panel under the sync tab of Windows media Player even if they are on your device. Check on your device whether you can see the playlist.

Big problem with play lists

According to the manual for most GoGear's, you have to have automatic synchronization enabled in Windows Media Player for the playlists to transfer correctly.I still have not been able to verify if this is true, since I have been able to transfer playlists fine with and without auto-sync engaged.

I haven't tried a 3115 specifically, but with an SA4111 and an SA5125, I just created the playlist in Windows Media Player 11, right clicked on the playlist name after it was created, selected "Add to Sync List," and then "Start Sync" with GoGear connected. I used this method, because it seemed more likely to add the songs AS A PLAYLIST rather than just dragging and dropping the tracks WITHIN the playlist.

As I look more closely at the documentation for the SA3115, however, it does not have the same playlists options as other GoGear's - it seems to limit you to Playlist-on-the-Go. I know that the GoGear will not recognize folders that you create in Windows Explorer, so that option is out. You can connect the GoGear, and see if a Playlists folder appears in the left-hand pane underneath the icon of the GoGear in the Sync tab. My gut feeling, however, is that this player is just not as equipped as other GoGear models for playlist transfer. I'll go back to the lab on tuesday and see if I can find anything new.

2gb playlist?

You can make the playlist on Windows Media Player frst, and then drag it over to the sync tab for the goGear. Or, you can left click on the GoGear icon in Windows Media Player, and click on "Playlists".

No playlist found

One of the pesky features of windows Media Player is that if you delete the song/playlist from the computer's harddrive, and then resync your device to that same computer, then oftentimes the song/playlist disappears. Reacquire the song/playlist, and then try resyncing to the goGear again.
