You can initiate a scan from your computer using the producstivity suite, you don't need to do it from the printer itself.

  • Anonymous Sep 21, 2008

To set a pin for your computer, goto Productivity suite and under Settings: Printer Status and Maintenance, click on the link to setup and diagnose printer.

Click on the fifth icon for advanced settings, and then click on the Networking button.

The bottom link on this dialog will allow you to change your printer name and PIN - it will not allow you to set it to 0000.

    Good luck

I keep getting the message failed to create print object Lexmark 6500 series. The specified module could not be found. (126)

It coudl be a printer driver issue. Please follow the steps below to fix the problem.
First, uninstall your existing print driver. On your computer, go to Start menu > Programs > Lexmark 6500 Series > Tools > Uninstall. After the uninstall process, reboot pc when prompted.
Second, visit the Lexmark website to download and re-install the Lexmark X6500 printer driver. Select your operating system > download > execute the file. Follow the instructions on your computer screen.
Lastly, after the re-install process, try to print again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Why can i not install my lexmark 6500 series to my Mac

Lexmark 6500 Series (WiFi) Mac Driver can be located and installed as a previously set up printer if you used it with another computer or OS:
http://support.lexmark.com/index?page=downloadFile&actp=CONTENT&productCode=LEXMARK_X6575&id=DR20481&segment=DOWNLOAD&userlocale=EN&locale=en&oslocale=en_US&osVendor=MACINTOSH&osCats=Mac+OS+X+10.6
Driver Download from web, same as a CD: 6500 Series Web Installer.dmg
I hope this will solve the problem. If you have a problem go to the Applications folder/ Lexmark for the wireless set up. You will need the printers print cable, USBed to your computer and follow the directions. Good luck.

Lexmark, scanner asks for pin code and won't scan without it.

This drove me mad for about 2 hours (I've just experienced the same problem), but have finally found the solution!

Firstly, it depends on what Lexmark you have (as different printers use different software)...

For my Lexmark which is an S600, I went into the program 'Lexmark home' which was in the lexmark folder on the start menu and in my lexmark software folder, went to 'settings' and then 'Network computer name'. From here you can set the pin.

According to people experiencing this problem with other Lexmarks, you can do this via the equivalent 'productivity suite' program through 'network settings'.

Hope this helps.

Can't figure out how to scan with my Lexmark 4850

Hi sher8531,

Here is a link to access the manual for your lexmark 4850 all-in-one device.

The manual says 4800 series and your printer model is 4850 so it is part of the series.

Hope this helps.

Where do i get a pin number for my lexmark X4530 i would like to scan something plz thanks

Go to the Lexmark Imaging icon (located on the taskbar) and look to the left and down the bottom. You will see Network Settings, click on the "view or change network settings." When you get in, uncheck the "I WISH TO REQUIRE A PIN TO SCAN TO MY COMPUTER" and then press OK. This will remove the pin setting from your scanner. Lexmark technical support just did that for me, now my printer does not ask for a pin number.
