Re: I bought a new battery and it is still not charging...
Hi, this is a common issue with the Harmony 800 series. What I do, is use an elastic band to keep the remote firmly in place on the charger, so that it does not lose contact.
Hope it helps.

Most of the time it is the battery. Did you charge the battery yourself? did the charger act normal? Did you check the contacts in the battery holder of the camera. The contacts should be clean and shiny. Did you put in the battery the correct way? plus to plus and minus to minus? Should be impossible to put it in, the worn way around, but I don't know how strong you are.
Just a few suggestions.
First suggestion: never recharge batteries inside of a $400 scanner. Always charge them in a separate battery charger. Second, you can find those battery holders on e Bay and you could even try QRZ.com as a source. Okay?
first of all I have this radio, and i bought the power cord from radio shack and rechargeable batteries. i left the radio on charge with the yellow battery holder with the right batteries in it in the unit some how there was a power surge and now i cant use the DC power plug but it works fine on batteries so open yours up take out the batteries out and smell if it smells burnt take it to radio shack they can fix it
Initially, have you checked the 30 Amps main fuse and its holder clips? It would be integrated with the starter relay. The fuse or the fuse holder may have heat related problem(s) causing it to loose conductivity when hot.The fuse may require replacement even if it tests good and/or the fuse holder would need cleaning / crimping. To locate the starter relay (main fuse), follow the battery cable from the + terminal of the battery.
The new battery was missing a little filler piece from the original. We crafted one which snugged the battery in the holder. The tolerances are quite tight and the battery needs to be snug.
I've been struggling with the same problem and could not figure out what the heck was goin on. When I would connect the camera to the charger the red light (indicating charging) would come on for like maybe 10 minutes. I could take pics for like 30 minutes then the camera would lose juice. Also, the green battery icon (indicating a full charge) would only stay green for like 1 minute then it would go right to the yellow battery icon (half charge). After a couple of weeks the red light indicater would only come on for like a second. I played around with mine and realized that the battery terminals were not connecting to the power source inside the battery holder. Basically the battery wasn't snug enough inside the battery holder to connect to the power. When I pushe the battery in with my finger the red light indicater would stay on. So I took a little piece of paper (folded slightly) and wedge it in the battery holder and closed the battery holder cover. Hope this makes sense! (And helps.)
