The spooler may be corrupted, or out of disk space.
In the control panel, in the Printers applet, select File/Server Properties/Advanced and select the spooling directory. Make sure the disk has ample free space (at least 500M), and has been defragmented. You need to specify a directory other than the root directory.

Injet printing runs more smoothly if you instruct the print driver (properties/advanced) to "start printing after the last page is spooled."

Laser printer store the document in internal buffers, and are much easier to manage.

Hope that helps............

It's seems your problem, it's not with the print head, rather it's with the crappy components that canon used.
On cp 330 printers, there is a small plastic part that is used to press the head against the paper. the plastic part at the end (right side facing the printer as the usb is on the left side) this plastic part fails along the axis of the rod, giving way to the stress of the print head, this causes the printer to only put the ink down on half the page

Hope his may help;

Regards,

You should go into your Printers advanced Settings and from there you should make sure that the PAPER size correct and that you have it set on the correct layout Potrait or Landscape
Then make sure in the menu that the "print all text or image is selected" sometimes it is also called/named (print full document)

Good luck

    Issue:
The image prints on only part of the Wide Size CP printer paper

    Solution:

    Untitled Document

Printing on the Wide Size (4 ? 8 in.) Paper

You can make your own message cards and greeting cards.

When the *Camera is Connected to the Printer

Prints only on a 4 ? 6 in. portion of the card.

*Note: For the CP510 and CP710 printers, this will only occur if the camera is not PictBridge compatible.

*When a Computer is Connected to the Printer

*Or if using a CP510 or CP710 connected to a PictBridge compatible camera

    Prints on the whole card.

Note: If using PictBridge, select 'Default' on the paper size setting screen.

all the solutions given to you should solve your problem.may be its the problem in your printers circuit where you fit your cartridges in the printer exactly on the opposite site in the printer there is the same brown dotted circuit same as in your cartrige.that circuit may be faulty.and the settings must be proper because you said the epson printer is perfectly printing with the same settings.for circuit problem you have to take it to the repair center for sure.

    thanks.

Sir,

It is also possible that the directory that Windows uses to store temporary files is full. This is the same folder that the printer uses to SPOOL it's print jobs to.
Follow these steps to delete the temporary files from your computer (Only Try to print now.complete these steps if the steps above failed to resolve this issue):
1. Close all programs.
2. Right-click your START BUTTON, and select EXPLORE. This will open the WINDOWS EXPLORER.
3. Go to the Temporary Directory (ie: C: TEMP, or C: WINDOWS\TEMP).
4. Delete all files with a .tmp extension (ie: 005.tmp). DO NOT DELETE ANY FOLDERS within this Temporary Directory. If there are no .tmp files, please close out of this window, and disregard the next steps.
5. Once complete, close any open windows, and restart your computer.

thanks
good luck

You mean the right side is blank ?
(communication error, data (print job) transferred from computer to the printer is missing/going somewhere.

>swap usb ports (direct printer to computer connection)
>change USB cable
>trash & re install driver

do a windows test page - it helps pinpointing the issue,

try this - print direct, bypass driver :

tick print direct / uncheck advance printing features

    >better if you can hook the printer to another computer to verify that it is still working properly

It is a fault with the carriage, with the carriage belt, or with the encoder strip.
Start checking printer Guaranty, if printer is not coverd with guaranty, only simple job you can do is ensuring that carriage belt is mooving freely the carriage, and eventually cleaning the plastic strip near to the belt from ink (that is the encoder strip).

the rest will require a technician takin the printer apart.

Check if there is any obstruction on the carriage rail, ensure the carriage can move freely through the carriage.

MMore likely you will need to replace the encoder strip, the encoder strip is a plastic strip that tells the printer the position of the ink carriage.
When this is faulty the printer may think carriage is already to end of the page and start the return motor to take carriage at start when printout is only at half page.

Replacing the encoder strip is a delicate job, and requires taking the printer apart, working on small gears, and reassembling it on the proper way.

  • Ginko
    Ginko Aug 31, 2008

Well... sure, if you put paper in the wrong way you get only half page printed, but in this case print is also reversed and you realize immediately, do not think this is the case.

  • Ginko
    Ginko Aug 31, 2008

When is communication error you get lower part of the printout blank, as communication to printer is interrupted before file is completed, this happens only with some settings, normally printers spool files before starting to print.

  • Ginko
    Ginko Aug 31, 2008

Listen, believe me or not, I fix printers for living.
Half or more of the comments here are from regular users like you, that are not Focusing the problem at all.
It is not the cable or the driver. The printer file is spooled serially.
The printer has a mechanical fault, nothing to do with controlling software (driver) wrong settings etc.

Faults that cause printing half page:

    Bad encoder strip.

On some model the heads stays up on the second half of the rail, spring missing /stuck.
    Fault with return motor.
    Other mechanical error.

In rare occasions you fix this cleaning an ink stained encoder strip.

In most cases you need to disassemble printer mechanics.

    Regards

  • Ginko
    Ginko Aug 31, 2008

If you don't care about eventually damaging the printer, move the ink carriage on both direction, and try lowering and pushing down a bit the carriage.
The printhead is lowered by tension springs, pulling up and pushing it down may unlock them.
This with cleaning the encoder strip is all you can do at a user level side.

The rest is calling for repair, or taking apart printer with risk of destroying it.

Installed a new cartridge and no imaging is printing on photo paper

Sounds like Blocked Nozzle heads assuming its making the correct noises when press "print" If Not
First ensure connected correctly:
Control panel / Devices and printers / select printer ( make sure its the default printer) right click on printer properties : Print test page.
Next repeat but right click Printing Preferences / maintenance / Nozzle check then Head cleaning.
This generally works with printers used fairly regularly.
Where printers left for long periods may have to resort to removing offending cartridge/s and using a syringe with warm water and flexible tubing to clear blocked print head (gently !) Kitchen towel underneath the print head will show when ink / water is clear. Usually have to replace with new cartridges :Then use nozzle check.

I have an HP Deskjet F380 All in one Printer/Scanner/copier which is about 6months old-it has always performed perfectly but at present I`m having trouble printing photos from computer. The quality of print...

hey payne

here is a copy of your problem.

Issue The printer is working, but colors in the printed output are missing, faded, or dull in comparison to the original. Solution Step one: Check the paper Verify that the paper type is appropriate for the project. If the paper is too fibrous, the ink applied by the printer might not fully cover the print surface. Step two: Check the print settings
  1. In the software application you are trying to print from, click File and then click Print . The Print dialog box opens.
  2. Verify that your printer is selected and then click Properties . The printer Properties dialog box opens.
  3. Click the Printing Shortcuts tab.
  4. In the What do you want to do? menu, select a task. The What do you want to do? menu lists most printing needs, but you might need to modify some of the options. Options on the Printing Shortcuts tab include:
    • Print quality: If you are unhappy with the quality of your printouts, try increasing the print quality. To print more quickly, try decreasing the print quality.
    • Paper type: If one of the options matches your paper type exactly, choose it rather than Automatic.
    • Paper size: Make sure this matches your paper.
Additional options: click the Basics tab, then click Advanced Features . The Advanced Features window opens.
    • Ink volume: Adjusts the amount of ink printed on a page. For lighter images (less ink), drag the slider to the left. For darker images (more ink), drag the slider to the right. The lighter the ink volume, the faster the printout will dry.
    • Dry time: Provides extra drying time for slow-drying printouts. Drag the slider to the left for less drying time, or to the right for more drying time. The printer will hold onto the printout until the dry time has elapsed.
Step three: Check the ink levels NOTE: If you have installed a refilled or remanufactured print cartridge, or a cartridge that has been used in another printer, the ink level indicator will be inaccurate or unavailable.
  1. Open the Printer Toolbox .
    1. Open HP Solution Center .
    2. Click Settings .
    3. Click Print Settings .
    4. Click Printer Toolbox .
NOTE: You can also open the Printer Toolbox from the Print Properties dialog box. In the Print Properties dialog box, click the Services tab and then click Service this device .
  2. Click the Estimated Ink Levels tab. Figure 1: Estimated ink levels - both cartridges low
99ac57c.gif If the steps above have not resolved the issue, print and evaluate a self-test page to determine if the cartridges or printer is causing the problem.
  1. Load the input tray with unused plain white paper.
  2. Press and hold the Cancel (c00636162.gif ) button and then press the Start Copy Color (c00636190.gif ) button.
  3. Release both buttons. The self-test page prints.
Step five: Note which cartridges printed which areas of the self-test page You must identify which cartridge printed which part of the self-test page, so that if you find defects on the page, you will know which cartridge is the problem. However, you can install different combinations of print cartridges in your printer, and different cartridge combinations print different self-test page patterns. Your self-test page may not look exactly like the picture below, but the right and left cartridges will print in the same areas of the page no matter which cartridges are installed. Step six: Look for defects In general, if the printer and print cartridges are working properly, the patterns (which look like grids of lines) should contain few or no missing lines. None of the colors should be missing and the colors of the blocks at the bottom of the page should match the labels below each block. Also, there should be no streaks of ink on the report. Missing lines or streaked bars If a pattern shows more than a few missing lines, or a bar is streaked, that print cartridge is not functioning properly. Figure 4: The magenta pattern shows missing lines and the bar is streaked 7e505a5.gif

Canon Pixma iP4600 not printing cyan

I had the same problem and I finally FIXED IT. I first tried replacing cartridges - no good, I then took the print head out, dismantled it and washed every component, no good. I then noticed that there were small streaks of blue on the paper when I tried to print a blue image so I worked out that the blue ink is getting through, but very slowly (yours might not be getting through at all but don?t worry this should still fix it). So I got a very thin pin and pushed it into the cyan pad on the print head creating a thin channel for the ink. Tried to print again, perfect, blue now working. Hope this helps - remember, you do this AT YOUR OWN RISK, there is no guarantee this will work for you, it worked for me but there is the obvious risks that you may break your printer. I did it because it was broken as far as I was concerned and I had nothing to lose if it broke completely, you must make that choice yoursel

My 8x10 photos have half a blue tint and half a yellow tint. I cleaned the heads and aligned the print cartridges and that didn't make a difference. Working with a HP2610. Thanks! Leslie

Step 1 - Check the ink levels
  1. Open the Printer Toolbox . There are two ways to do this:Open HP Director , select the Settings menu, then the Print Settings submenu, and finally the Printer Toolbox
    • Open Printers and Faxes in the Windows Control Panel , then right-click your printer icon and choose Properties . Click Printing Preferences . Click the Services tab, then the Service This Device icon. The Printer Toolbox opens. Click the Estimated Ink Level tab. A cartridge may be running out of ink even if the graphic shows ink remaining (see the note at the start of this section). Lines or streaks always appear in printouts when the cartridges begin to run out of ink. Replace print cartridges that are out of ink or low on ink. Step 2 - Check the printer settings
      1. In the program being used for printing, click File , and then click Print The Print window opens.Make sure the appropriate product is selected, and then click Preferences or Properties .The Preferences/Properties window opens.Click the Printing Shortcuts tab.
      2. Consider modifying some or all of the options in the Printing Shortcuts menu to increase print quality.Print quality : If the quality of the printouts is not acceptable, try increasing the print quality. To print more quickly, try decreasing the print quality.Paper type : If one of the options matches the paper type exactly, select it instead of Automatic .Paper size : Make sure that this option matches the paper loaded in the product. To see additional options, click the Advanced tab, and then click Advanced Features .The Advanced Features window opens. Consider changing the following option:Ink volume : Adjust the amount of ink that prints on a page. For lighter images (less ink), drag the slider to the left. For darker images (more ink), drag the slider to the right. The lighter the ink volume, the more quickly the printout dries.
Step 3 - Run the clean print cartridges utility
      1. Press the Setup button.Use the arrow keys to select Tools and then press the OK button.Select Clean Print Cartridge and then press OK . The device prints a test page.Examine the test page. If the print quality of the page is good, stop here. If the print quality is bad, go on to the next step for further cleaning.Open the Printer Toolbox . There are two ways to do this:
        • Open HP Director , select the Settings menu, then the Print Settings submenu, and finally the Printer Toolbox .
        • If the HP Director method does not work, open Printers and Faxes in the Windows Control Panel , then right-click your printer icon and choose Properties . Click on Printing Preferences . Click the Services tab, then the Service This Device icon.
      2. The Printer Toolbox opens. On the Device Services tab, click Clean the Print Cartridges , then follow the on-screen instructions. Up to three levels of cleaning are available. Discard or recycle the page that prints.
      Step 4 - Print a diagnostic page
      1. From the product control panel, press * and # simultaneously, and then release both buttons.
      2. Press 1 , 2 , and then 3 . The Service menu appears.
      3. Press the right arrow button (c01150415.jpg ) twice. The Special Reports menu opens.
      4. Press OK .
      5. Press the right arrow button (c01150415.jpg ) once. The Print Cartridge menu opens.
      6. Press OK . The diagnostic page prints.

Horizontal colored lines through grayscale printed photos

Hi George,

It sound's like an ink-feed issue:

1) Dirty heads, even after cleaning
2) No-ink or poor quality ink
3) Damaged head: some are part of the cartridge, some are not
4) Air bubbles in ink

The test page is typically not as hi-res nor as saturated as a
photo print. The hi-res photo puts the greatest demand on the print head.

The color lines you see are actually lines of missing color,
where the head has failed to deposit ink, so one or two primary
colors are missing from the complete picture.

For example missing yellow will make a blue line.
Missing magenta will make a green line
Missing cyan will make a red line.... etc..

Clean the heads again and again, print again and again,
hoping to flush the system.

BUT, keep in mind that cleaning wastes huge amounts of
ink and tiny little cartridges of ink cost more than many new printers.

Balck ink not working

This is what worked (so far) with my Dell1.gif AIO A940 printer1.gif that wouldn't print black ink.

It worked for awhile when I chose photo/glossy paper, but then it quit printing again (see below).

PRINT, PROPERTIES, PAPER SETUP, SPECIALTY PAPER, PHOTO/GLOSSY

I got it to print, again, by putting SEVERAL papers in the feeder (instead of just 1) - there is a sensor that is supposed to automatically detect paper type, and it might not be working right, especially with one or only a couple of sheets.
