Not sure if you have solved this request but I downloaded a manual for my Gigaset AS280 Duo in english from this site. Please note that there are multiple languages listed so chose the English one about 4th or 5th from the top.

a) Found and downloaded English Language user manual from the net.
b) Discovered that 'phone set-up should have been AUTOMATIC!
c)Unloaded batteries from both handsets, and then replaced them.
d) System up and running!!
