I have a DDR7009EE and the fan runs continuously even when the humidity in the room is below the setting on the machine. Shouldn't the fan stop when the desired humidity is reached?

Lyle, your particular model is designed for the fan to function constantly. However, the fan running doesn't mean the compressor is always running. The reason the unit was designed this way, is for the air to be continually moving, and when the humidity sensor picks up a rise in the humidity level (above where you have it set) the compressor will turn ON and extract that humidity.

Your unit is working as it should. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Followed turn on instructions in manual.CO display 2 days. continually. Unit gets Very warm & fan runs if turned off. Have to unplug to stop. Unit used approx.3 mo in '14 & just restartd this week.

could you be mistaking the room humidity indicator for the time? reason I ask is on these one display units this happens more frequently than Id care it too , the one display shows both time and room humidity also set point humidity , the only way one can tell is on some models there is a tiny light that shows up next to labeled function , easy to miss It , also if your machine is sort of new (last few years) it has been decided that it's more efficient to let the circulation fan run all the time , regardless of room humidity . this makes it a little annoying (noise) but they do cycle the compressor to regulate the room humidity

We don't have a manual, it's a new unit but never been used. We can't figure out what all the control panel buttons mean. Help please.

if its a newly mfg unit then yes the fans gonna run all the time , that's done to increase efficiency , if you hold down on arrows then you should be able to adjust the rooms humidity level, the default screen is the actual rooms humidity level , if you hold down mode button , this will cycle thru some timer modes that ind on the display

it should turn itself off when bucket is full , this even stops that fan from running most times

Should the fan shut off when the humidity setting has been reached for model Frigidaire CAD504DWL 50-Pint Two Speed?

Thank you for your post, friend!

I see that your question is if the fan should shut off once it has reached the recommended setting. The fan will run even when the compressor cuts off so that air can pass over the sensor coils to check the humidity. This is a normal operation. I hope this is helpful. -Matt

The fan never stops running. The dehum. works fine that is the only problem. Is it the way I have it set how can I change that?

Bob, some humidifier fans run a lot, because they are designed to keep the air moving and when the humidity level rises, the compressor turns ON to extract the humidity. If you're operating the unit in a continual mode, it's not unusual for the fan to run almost constantly.Especially, is the humidity extraction level is set at or above 50%. Lowering it to 35% will cause it to extract more humidity and will turn on an off less.

Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

When the humidity set point is reached, the compressor shuts off but the fan continues to run. Is this normal?

Chucke - Depending on which mode you're operating the unit in (Continual Mode), yes that is normal. The fan continues to run in an effort to recirculate the air. If it senses a rise in humidity above the level you have it set on, the compressor will turn and remove that humidity.

Hope this helped you.

Our dehumidifier is not taking moisture out of the air and putting water in the bucket but everythings to be running fine

If the machine's compressor runs when you switch it on, then turn the machine on maximum and let it run for an hour or so. Then check the coils in the back with your hand. If they are not getting cold at all, then there is a significant problem with the refrigeration process in the unit. It may have developed a leak and allowed your refrigerant gas to escape, or there may be another internal problem with the compressor. Either way you would need to have it serviced by a fridge technician, or more likely just replaced with a whole new unit since both options can potentially cost about the same.

If the unit runs normally and the coils are getting cold, then make sure they are not totally icing up which will impede the unit's performance. Also make sure that the room is warm enough. A dehumidifier will not work properly if the ambient air temperature is too low. Basically, the warmer and more humid the room is, the better they work. Add heat to the room if necessary to improve the unit's performance.

My dehumidifier is frozen solid

Unplug it ... let it defrost.

Set it to a higher % humidity and make sure the fan is on its fastest speed. If you can set it not run continually (a selection option), do that. Also, set a small fan close by to move more air around the machine. If you have the option, put a hose on the collection device to drain to a sewer.

As your space starts to dry out, set the humidity setting to a lower number. This may take a week or more.

I believe perfect humidity is slightly above 50% - no need to try to get to 40% except in unusual circumstances. If that is the case, get a second device. Or, if your space is large, you may want to add a second device.

I hope this info helps you and your problem is solved.

My new Danby dehumidifier never shuts off

This unit is designed with the intention of the fan running all the time. The compressor cycles on and off with demand, however the fan runs continuously to provide constant room circulation.

My dehumidifier only the fan runs

Are you sure you have the humidity level set low enough for the compressor to turn on? If not, the fan may run anyway.
Your unit may be designed to run the fan continuously despite the fact that the room has reached the set humidity level. This design feature is intended to keep the air moving which helps mildew problems in both the room and on the surfaces of the dehumidifier itself. Check your manual.

LG LD65E humidity variance

Is the compressor running or is it just the fan? If its just the fan it is because it is cycling the air and it uses that air flow to check the humidity in the air. If the fan runs non-stop and the compressor does not turn on or the fan does not shut off there is a problem with this unit and you will need to replace it. Since it is brand new you should still be able to return it to the store.
