Bought a Delonghi dd50pc dehumifier last week for my basement and I have the hose going uphill and out a window but the pump always shuts off after 3-4 minutes, filling the tank instead. Now when I lay the hose flat it stays on indefinately. Any suggestions? Hose is not kinked and the line is clear of any debris.

The dehumifier will not drain through the hose. There is no obstruction in the hose or the outlet in the back. It will drain into the bucket

The drain side needs to be lower than the outlet or it will not drain uphill.

Actually, your husband is correct. The settings reflect the amount of humidity you want to remain in the house. I really don't think you want to leave 50 to 60% humidity in the house.

35% removes the greatest amount of humidity.

What diameter tubing is used with the Delonghi DE 500P pump

George, regular garden hose is what is generally used for continual drainage. Just don't exceed the maximum length of hose, that is listed in your Owners Manual.And, despite what they say about being able to pump water up thru abasement window, it really doesn't work that well. Unless the unit is right below the window,

Just purchases the DD50PC. Set the pump to continuous, hooked the hose to the slop sink in basement approx 8 feet, pump running fine but when looked at it the next day the pump had shut off and the tank...

The reason this happened may be two fold. Either the hose is clogged or the length of hose is to long and then has to go up hill into the slop sink. The owner's Manual says the pump is rated for an 8 foot lift. However, what I have discovered is that rating, does not take friction loss in to account.

Try moving the unit closer to the sink and shorten the hose about a foot or two. Actually, a floor drain would be perfect, if you have one in your basement.

there should be a pump somewhere near the pan, the pickup for the pump must go into the drain pan somewhere if you can find the pump, the nipple the hose attches to is close by please rate

Delonghi DE500P quit pumping water. For the last two week it sounded like a bearing was going out. Would just cleaning it out solve the problem as described in the cleaning problem solutions

On a dehumidifer, you set the relative humidity, not temperature. Normally the humidity should be set within 40 to 60 percent humidity.

expected? of course! this is not ur solution try draining all the water to the sewerage if u cant try to pump it out with a vacuum cleaner (that can pump water) or a pump then turn on the Dehumidifier every time it frosts turn it off untill it defrosts or u can heat up the basement with a bellower and the Dehumidifier wont frost

You really answered your own question. The pump in the dehumidifier only has so much water lift capacity. By trying to run it up and out, you have exceeded the maximum lift capacity. Using a floor drain or even a bathtub drain in the basement will probably work, as long as the hose is not to long.*
However, if you can use a floor drain, there's no need to use the pump function. You can use the continuous drain on the back of the unit. using the drain hose provided for that application.

*The 13 ft lift capacity noted in the Owner's Manual includes whatever length of hose you're using to get to the window. As there is some friction loss involved. But, they fail to point that out.
