Chaining the engine down is a bandaid and a bad idea unless you have a hot rod with 600 HP, there is a reason the mounts are coming undone (don't understand "mounts keep on coming undone due to a combination of problems" ) fix or replace broken mounts, don't forget the transmission mount, If you fix it right it won't mess up other things later like CV joints

Taurus timing belt

It's rule out jumped timing mark first.
How may miles is on this T-belt?
If it is over 100K miles and care for then it can be a jump belt.

Open the timing covers.
Set cylinder 1 to top dead center
The two cam DOTS should line up.
If it does not the you has a jumped belt.

The only corrective action is to change the timing belt.

What should i do if i get a 0420 code on a 2003 ford taurus

Trouble code P0420 means: Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold

This is unrelated to the noise when turning sharply or the grinding when braking/brake light.

Big vibrations after having cam belt replaces. Told its the engine mount by our mechanic. Ford say the engine mounts are okay, and to take it back to our mechanic. Our mechanic was told the engine mounts...

What year car?? What engine??? What do you mean import,,its a ford focus ??Did the vibration come right after the timing belt was installed..??The major problem with the focus engine mounts was the one under the battery..And the one right above the timing belt..If it was fine until the belt was changed,,then he probably didnt install the mount right or left something off..You have to remove the mount to do a timing belt,,so i would go back to the mechanic..The mounts can look fine ,,but still be worn or not properly installed

Ford sport trac, 4.0 dry start , and then continue ticking sound ,ive been told timimg chain

how many miles on the vehicle? does the noise quieten down when the engine RPMs come up? timing chain is very likely if you have over 150,000 miles. lifter noise is a more common problem. the lifters will tend to quieten down as the RPMs come up due to more oil pressure.

My 2002 ford taurus leaks anti freeze and was told it was head gaskett or timing gaskett. The oil is fine and the leak is not all the time.

More than likely (and hopefully) it is the timing chain cover gasket. Common problem on Tauruses with the Vulcan V-6. Had the same problem. Replaced gasket and leak stopped. Not cheap if taken to a mechanic, but is doable if you have some experience and the equipment.

UNSOLVED MYSTERY.

hello.

so from what i understand, you say when you move the selector from park to reverse or park to drive the car feels as though it lunges, or you can feel the car move into a loaded position forcefully, while watching the engine and transmission shift.

if that is correct, than you could have an engine performance issue, an internal transmission malfunction or simply failed engine and/or transmission mounts,

NOT an issue with your rack and pinion.

Does the timng chain has to come off to change the water pump?

No it dosn't, but the side engine mount must be disconnected so u can lift engine to remove the water pump drive pulley.

Torque mount

it depends, if you have a cherry picker or a come a long then you can do it your self. You have to lift the engine, to replace this part. If not you will need to take it in. Now you can rent these things, but you will need the chilton or haines.

You have to remember that this is a front whealed engine and your trnasmision is right here also. Don't be afraid of the greas, just read and re-read then do.
