Sony wega kde-61xbr950

Hi,

There is a thin vertical line about a foot long and about 6 inches from the right side of the screen.  It seems to be mostly greenish in color.  It is not seen when, for instance, a commercial cuts off the screen and only black shows.
This has been present now for about 2 months.

Any ideas or suggestions as this TV was quite expensive.

Thanks,
Brad
My email is [email protected] About 4 months ago we began to notice a thin vertical line appearing about 4 inches from the left edge of the screen. It starts at the top and ends at the midpoint of the screen. Initially, the line would fade away after the TV was on for a couple of hours. However, the line now never goes away. Has anyone found a diagnoses for this issue? Is it a simple repair?

Can be a problem with a misplaced connection, more likely the Ysus card to be replaced.

Try first unplugging the TV from power for 20 minutes or so, see if this reset can help.
To check if it is connection you can also perform a whack test, but this involve hitting the TV on the sides, you must be carefulk on a plasma.
It is more likely the Ysus card faulty, part sellers sell kits for replacement , if you have no experience better to call a technician, I will see how much part cost is.

Here you can buy part for sony:
    1-800-488-SONY (7669)
Even if it is likely that you need to replace the ysus it still possible that it is a logic problem with the main control chip (jungle chip)
If TV is less than one year old it is covered on labor and parts by Sony Guaranty
    See here Limited warranty.

To contact repair you can use this page or call the number on your owner manual.

Green line running vertically along the edge of picture

If its a LCD projection TV (such as Sony Wega, Hitachi, Epson, Philips, and some Panasonic, some Mitsubishi), and the green image is in the whole screen or just one part as a blob or a line. Is most probably that one of your LCD Color Filters is damaged (burned out or starting to get busted), I don’t know if you can just replace the color filter, I believe you need to change the whole light engine system or the optical block. There are some places around, I found some on ebay but you should definitely try on discountdashmerchantdotcom their price range $260.00 - $330.00

6 horizontal lines

I would look for a Vertical circuit failure. Most likely is the vertical output IC and or open resistor off the hv transformer. Definitely look for any loose solder connections around the Vertical output IC.
Hope this helps,
