I have a KitchenAid model KEMC378 in-wall microwave/over combo. Like others on this thread, my bulb burned out and customer service said that I need a service technician to come to the house to replace it.
Is there an easy fix that I'm likely to be able to handle, without damaging the microwave? The manual doesn't even mention bulb replacement.
Thanks
The oven will need to come down from the wall so the outer cover can be taken off. Then you'll see the light socket(s).
It's recommend due to the weight and awkwardness of the oven that two people do this job.
If you don't still have your installation instructions, you can download them here, but you should use you full model number, as opposed to the base KEM378.
This uses a fairly common halogen bulb, but I'm not sure of the wattage. It should be marked on the bulb or on a tag near the reflector.
You must not touch the new one with your bare skin, as the oils will shorten the bulb life.

Hello
& Welcome to FixYa
To
replace the light bulb first remove the screws located on the vent grill at the
top of the microwave, tilt the grill back and then pull away to remove. After
this open the light cover , you have to remove the screws so that you can
discard the old light bulb and then replace it with a new one. Please get back
to me if you have any other questions.
