There are 4 basic, yet solvable reasons for what you have described.

1. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the
Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter.

2. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.

3. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to
clean the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.

4. Ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees.
dehumidifiers do not work well between those temperatures
(Unless, you have a Low Temp Unit). This applies mainly to
where the air temperature at floor level is colder than at shoulder
level
in basement applications. Raising the unit up off the floor,
onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc, that can handle the weight
of the unit, plus a full tank of water, will usually resolve this
problem.

I hope this helps you troubleshoot & solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

LD451EGL no water extraction

Apparently, the fans are running, but the compressor has shut down. It could be a failed compressor, or the charge in the system could have leaked out causing the compressor to shut down.

The 54701 Kenmore Dehumidifier runs and sounds normal, fan running, compressor on. However , it doesnt collect any water whether a hose is connected or just the bucket. No icing up or any weird noise...

Yes, if the compressor needs to be recharged, a service technician can do it.

In the meantime, try lowering the humidity extraction level to 35%. You may have the extraction level set to high.

Hope this helped you. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

My humidifier stars and stops, start and stops. It runs for a minute then shuts off.

It sounds as if you may have the humidity extraction level set to high. Try lowering it you 35% and check the water collection bucket, to make sure it is installed properly

Hope this helped you.

It has stopped extracting moisture. It still runs but there is no heat coming out of the vent.

My kenmore 50 pint dehumidifier 54501 runs but it does not taking in water

You need to determine what's "running". Here's why: There are three things that must be working to extract water. The 'coil' (a finned metal part that needs air to flow across its surface) may be filled with dust and obstructions, so no air can move...then no water. There is a blower motor that must move the air. If it is seized up and not blowing air...very little or no water. The compressor creates condensation from air moving across the coil (like the moisture than forms on an ice filled glass on a humid day) to extract the water from the air. If it's not working then no water.
So, if there is air blowing out of the dehumidifier the blower is working. If the air is room temp the compressor is not working. If it's real hot air, and the humidifier keeps cycling on and off quickly, the coil is dirty. Those are the 3 things that need to be working.
