Peter Thompson's solution is the one that works. The "oh it's broken" solution sounds like something a customer service rep who has no clue would say.

Unfortunately if the scanner is unlocked and you have reinstalled the software with no luck, then the scanner is defective.

If your scanner is still under warranty you can get a free repair or replacement form Canon...your best bet would be to contact them via one of the methods listed here:

http://usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/standard_display/contact_us_consumer

The LIDE scanners are nice, I understand your frustration.

I hope this helps! If this did help you, please give a thumbs up!

Thank you for choosing FixYa!

I had this problem with my Canon LiDE 210 which gets its power only through the USB port cable ( no separate power connection). I just plugged the scanner into a different USB jacks on my computer until I found one that provided adequate current to power the scanner motor and circuitry, then that "switch lock" error message stopped appearing. Most computers are made with different USB ports able to provide different amounts to power to peripherals, so check your computer manual to see which USB jack can provide the most current.

This problem can occur when there is not sufficient power from the USB port. I once had this problem when I connected the scanner to the USB port on a hard drive that was not itself plugged in. When I connected the power to the drive the problem went away.

It is also sometimes a problem with a specific USB port that is providing low power. Simply by swapping to another port you can sometimes solve this problem.

I know this thread is old, but wanted to say THANK YOU!! for the advice. After getting ready to give up...Switching USB power sources solved the problem. I would not have thought of that. Thanks again!

I have problem with my canon Scanner 110 lide

Disconnect the USB (which is the power source) and install the driver. Then reconnect the USB. The driver should be detected automatically. Go into "Device Manager" to check.

What is Canon LiDE 110 internal error, code: 5,202,52?

Ken G resurrected this old post from July 2014, but in looking for the answer, I found this.

Please make sure that the USB cable that you are using is 6 feet long or shorter. Also, please make sure that the USB cable is connected directly from the CanoScan LiDE 110 to your computer and is not connected to a USB hub or some other device.

Canoscan Lide 110 driver

Perhaps you have forgotten to unplug the scanner before
scanning? That's what happened to me. I kept getting
different error codes, 5,202,63 or 5,202,52 or 5,202,54 and
also a message that the driver was not in the TWAIN folder.
According to the help file the problem might have been due
to my nfts file system. I also tried downloading various
new drivers. Nothing helped until I noticed that I had not
unplugged the scanner!

Canon CanoScan LiDE 100 Flatbed Scanner Release lock switch

Beneath the scanner is a lock switch, ensure that it is in the unlocked position.

If it is in the unlocked position and it still displays this error message then you will need to get a technician to free the reader assembly and give it a clean. Not too big a job. It's a good little scanner I enjoy mine, even after the same thing happened to it.

Take care!

How to dettach canon lide 110 lock

You will find the lock on the underside of the scanner, it's a long switch. Once this is released you will be able to use the scanner as normal.

I cannot use scanner Lide 25.. because show error : "release the lock switch, detach the I/F cable and reconnect" How solution?

Sounds like the scan head is locked. This is usually done so you can transport the scanner without bouncing the scan head out of alignment. Look under the scanner and you will see it. Make sure it's in the UNLOCKED position. You may need to power the unit off/on to reset it or restart your computer to get a fresh attempt at the scanner.
