your lg 40 will be locked onto a mobile phone provider and you have tried to plug in a sim card that is not on the original locked mobile phone provider . Talk to original provider of network about unlocking your phone to other networks

talk to your friend and ask if the phone was locked to a particular mobile network ?
If it is locked it would be easier to stay with that mobile network.
Once you know what network it is you can contact that network provider or find a reseller and purchase a sim card and mobile number. If you go to a dealer or reseller of the particular mobile network they might install the sim card and activate for you.
otherwise you might have to but the sim chip into the phone.
A user manual for the make and model number of the phone would instruct you how to do this although you might find a youtube video that might show you how to do this.
As it is straight talk that might be the mobile network to go for.

Your Sidekick operates on a GSM cellular network. Your Boost SIM card (and Boost Mobile phones) operate on an iDEN cellular system. You cannot use a Boost SIM card in a Sidekick. (FYI - SIM cards cannot be unlocked. Only cellphones phones can be unlocked.)

u have problem in u r sim card only........talk to custmer care...(every cellular company has there own custmer care for trouble shoting) u can coll them...
