Too HOT to touch

My oven is too hot to touch when baking in the convection mode! A GE repairman claimed that no micro/convection ovens have insulation and that this is normal....I think, if true, the designers must have been INSANELY STUPID....Regular convection ovens have insulation so why wouldn't the combo units?? Can anyone let me know their experiece Please??

When using the convection mode of operation, the exterior of the oven is so hot you can't touch it!! It is installed in wooden kitchen cabinets and they too become hot to the touch. Everything (food etc) in the cabinetry above the ovens gets pretty warm if not hot... THIS CAN'T be normal even though the GE repair man say's it is... This could burn my house down and i plan to get this thing out of it very soon

Ge profile microwave/convection oven. Do you need to remove glass turntable when in the bake mode. What does cook mean on sensor cooking? What is display speed in the clock mode? Thanks

Hello, Jacque -

GE provides a website which offers owner's manuals. This is the link: https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/literature.htm . You will need to enter the model number for your microwave/convection oven to find, save, and print the manual.

Best wishes.

How to use convection oven

Use just like a regular oven. Convection just blows the hot air around, so cooking can be faster. Search on google the differences between convection and baking.

What is convection cookong

A convection microwave is a combination of a standard microwave oven and a convection oven. It allows food cooked in the convection microwave to be cooked quickly, yet come out browned or crisped as in a convection oven. However, most cakes cannot be baked in a microwave oven - only those without an open grain structure, such as brownies. There are microwaves which contain electric browning baking elements. A true convection microwave has a high velocity forced air fan to circulate the hot air uniformly.

GE rotisserie convection oven Model 898691 very hot

I've got one of these and it says engraved right on the outside of the oven "Hot surface - do not touch" so I'd think that would be expected.
