Hello I have a black and decker lawn mower which is electric and it suddenly stopped working. I checked the power cord and it seems to be fine. When I try to start the lawn mower, I hear the click sound but the mower does not start Any ideas or suggestions is highly appreciated. Thanks T

    Hello Hammer

thanks for the response - I am a beginner in the lawn mower. I did not open up the lawn mower. I did check the blades were moving freely and did not notice anything directly. But I will check the rectifier and see if it works.

Any idea how much it costs to change the brushes.

    Thanks

    T

Did you open the mower maybe loose connection on the rectifier or maybe worn brushes.

Is there power going to the extension cord? If so, is the power reaching the electric motor? If not check the on/off switch and connections.

Take off the black plastic hood (4 screws), clean debris and check connections to, and condition of, shunted brushes. They're available from B&D parts for a few bucks.

My Black and Decker 19' Lawn Hog will start then stop. It has full power when it is on then it just stops. The cord seems to be working. The mower is 10+ yrs. old.

You should check your on/off switch, that might be the problem. You can get a replacement switch for under $15. I had the same problem, this is how I fixed it. I used the part no. 681064-01N. Good Luck!
