A slow system is usually one of these things or a combination of them:

1. Not enough RAM. Try to max out what your system can handle.

2. Your processor needs an upgrade. You will need the specs on your motherboard to see again what it can take.

3. Your system is bogged down with spyware, malware, and/or viruses. make sure you use a GOOD antivirus program. With the free ones...you get what you pay for.

Computer is running very slow. New power supply was installed and seemed to work faster, then back to being slow. 3g ram. Thinking it might be hdd. Could it be the processor is getting too hot?

Usually heat and / or bad sectors on the drive will slow it down.

You should take the desktop outside and with TWO cans of compressed air blow out all the dust.

Let us know if that fixes the issue or not and we'll proceed from there.

First thing I would do is take the desktop outside and clean it out with two cans of compressed air.

HEAT can really slow a machine down. Let me know if that makes a difference (good to do either way) and we'll go from there.

Try disabling apps in start up by typing msconfig in start menu. Or try booting in safe mode(press f8 key when rebooting) and try doing a virus/malware scan or disable start up apps in safe mode also.!

Runs slow on video downloads

Hello Sir,

downloading speed depends on internet connection not on PC specification.

If your transfer is low then downloading will also be low.

Take note that source from which you are downloading also must have reliable connection.

Slow to load programs or switch between programs

Seems to me you have defective hard drive. First of all try to backup everything you will miss in case of "hard drive death".

May be you have a spyware or some viruses. It does not matter if you have an antivirus program. Believe me ! this is crazy.
I'd suggest http://www.MalwareBytes.org : doiwnload free version update and go with quick scan. Than defragment the partition. If nothing changed, get some new hard drive and play with it. :)
